There are old threads about this but I couldn't find anything recent... so I started a new one 
DD was born a day before I was to be induced, at 41+5.
I am 36+3 with #2, and I'm just wondering what I might expect. I am kind of mentally preparing myself to go super late again, but it's hard!! Everyone keeps saying 2nd babies come sooner...
So tell me your experience!!

@mrsjyw: 38 weeks sounds awesome except that M's birthday is when I'm 38+3 and I really don't want him to come before then!!! Of course that probably means he will

@sslm: I had membranes swept both times. Twice with DS1! DS2, my water broke the morning after the sweep! OB did it early for me since I had a "normal" L&D the first time. so maybe a sweep at 39 wks?

My first was 10 days past my due date and my second was a day after my due date. Both labors started on their own.

@sslm: My first was 40+1, my second was 37+6. My LO2 was due 10 days after LO1's 3rd bday and I was terrified of them sharing a bday, or of being stuck in the hospital on my daughter's bday (which also happened to be Thanksgiving that year). But since my son came so early he was born 6 days before my daughter's birthday and we were back home to celebrate together. PHEW!

@mrsjyw: I had the ole membrane sweep THREE times with M. Haha. They didn't offer it until 41 weeks though. I just saw my midwife yesterday and she said if I wanted they could try it earlier than that this time! 39 weeks would be perfect.

@Truth Bombs: That's funny that you had almost the exact same separation between birthdays and due dates, and my daughter is turning 3 too! I keep saying either he has to come a week before, or at least a couple of days after, but I know he'll do what he wants haha. The thought of having him next week is slightly terrifying though, I'm not ready!!

@sslm: What's even funnier is my brother's wife had her son 48 hours after my son was born, and their daughter turned 2 8 days before their son was born. So all 4 grand kids have their birthdays in a 12 day window!

I was induced with my first at 40+6. Had two membrane sweeps prior but nothing happened. Water broke on its own at 39+1 with my second, the day after my membrane sweep at 39 week appt. my doc and I agreed we would be happy to have the baby that weekend--I had wrapped up work, she was on the whole weekend--so it worked out really well!

My comment won't be encouraging: my first came naturally at 40+4 and with my second she was induced at 42 weeks.

@sslm: I will say though that she was soooo ready to come that labor was a breeze - 36 hours with my first and like, maybe 2 hours of pain (probably closer to an hour) with her! My body was so ready by that point it all happened easily

@coopsmama: I had a similar experience with my first, 10 hours of labour and 1 hour of pushing, but a relatively "easy" time and I think it's because she was so ready to come out by that point!! Thanks for sharing :). I'm prepared to go overdue again, I just wish my mom would stop saying I won't.

My first was born at 41+2 and my second baby was born on 39+4.
Labor with #1 was 37 hours long. Labor with #2 was only 3.5 hours long!

My first was 40+4 and my second is due now. I'm hoping I go a little early (I'm 35 weeks today) this time. That could be because I am having these two back to back, so I feel like I've been pregnant forever. I'm starting to bring my computer home from work (I work really far away) after next week.

Not me, but my mom went over 42 weeks with me (in the 80s), at 42 weeks with my sister, at 41+4 with my brother, and was induced at 41+1 with my youngest sister (in the early 90s when they no longer let them go as late).
I was induced at 41+1 with DS and fully expect to go late on all future kids. MIL also went over 42 weeks with DH, who ended up a c-section bc he was breech, then had two more c-sections. So odds are not in my favor!

My experience is not encouraging, sorry! Everyone kept telling me my second would come earlier. LO1 came on her own at 40+4. I had to be induced at 41+3 with LO2. My labor was shorter, even with it being an induction, though! 13 hours with my first, 7.5 with my second and pushing with LO2 was less than five minutes!
@coopsmama: I'm sure I would have gone to 42 weeks if they had let me!

@BelugaBean: booooooo. Haha. At least since DD came at 41+5 I know it can't really get much later/worse than that. I mean, it can, I could go to 42 weeks and be induced... but hopefully the chances are that are fairly slim!

@sslm: For what it's worth, I was so against an induction but it actually went really well. Fingers crossed you don't make it that far but just in case you do, I thought I should add that.
