If I'm feeding him something he's eaten before without an issue I don't offer an alternative. I just figure he doesn't want to eat. If it's something new and it doesn't go over well I'll give him a cheese stick and some mandarin oranges.

I guess I approach this differently. I always give her the staples she will eat and then a few varieties of things and then offer her what I am eating. For her, the staples are french toast, cheese, and fruit and veggies and milk, chicken.

I decided long ago that food was one thing that wasn't worth the battle for me. If she won't eat dinner, she can have a yogurt or fruit pouch or some cheese. That's it. It's been happening a lot lately.

Great question! In theory, they get what we eat...but I seriously do not want my guys waking up hungry! We try to always have SOMETHING on the plate they will eat, and they can have as much as they want. That is typically avocado, cheese and/or bread. So they eat what we're eating and if they don't want it they will just fill up on one of those things. That way it does not feel like I'm making a separate meal, but I don't feel like I'm letting them go hungry. It used to be a sweet potato, which I would just "bake" in the microwave, but they both refuse sweet potato now...sigh.
