how do you handle it?
Since we moved, our kids have struggled with adjusting to the local veggies and fruits. They've never been big eaters, but over the years they slowly grew to tolerate and like specific foods that we introduced. But almost none of those foods grow locally (e.g. broccoli, cauliflower, baby corn, apples, etc.) and so now they're having to adapt to local vegetables, like eggplants, etc. Even the fish are pretty different. We do always try to offer comfort food that they're used to (mac and cheese, chicken fingers, etc.) but they don't always eat those either.
Adapting to the local foods is a slow process, and some meals the kids won't eat much at all. That's fine for lunch, but when it happens at dinner, then they will almost certainly be hungry at bedtime. Then they will beg to eat a snack.
How would you handle it: stay strong so that the kids are motivated by hunger to try new foods? Or give a small snack to take the edge off of the hunger...
