What were your cycles like coming off the pill?
Also: what was your cycle like while on the pill?
I started my bc on cd5 (per his request) and now I'm wondering 2 things:
- will I have a 28 day cycle or 33 (28+5)?
- will my cycle coming off the pill be insanely long?
I know we will not know until it happens but I'm curious as to what others' experiences were. Thanks:)

I honestly can't remember! I think it varies, though. Why are you on the pill right now? I'll be taking it again next month for 21 days before my IVF cycle. I did a few years ago as well, and I just can't remember how long the cycle was or anything else. Hope somebody can help.

@Jenn23: they need my uterine lining thin enough for all the testing they have to do this month. They weren't able to see anything the last 2 cycles.

Hmmm, I don't know. I'm taking BCP now because my SHG is today. I've been on it for about 2 weeks and if everything goes well today, I should be getting off of it today.

@Jenn23: thank you:) actually hopping they find something so we can fix it and move on. Everything else is inconclusive and leads to an "unexplained" diagnosis.
@bluestriped bee: that's one of the tests I'm doing too. So you just get off the bc mid cycle?

@CupQuakeWalk: Well, I started BCP when I was on CD4, so they told me that I'm currently on a holding cycle until I get my SHG. If it's clear, I believe I'll jump right into an IUI cycle. That's what the plan was of starting BCP, so I wouldn't have to wait a full cycle to start my next IUI.

@bluestriped bee: oh! I should ask about that because re did say that if the tests didn't show a reason for any surgical correction that we would move onto iui. But, he didn't make it sound it it was *right then*. I better ask next time I'm there. Thanks!

I think you will have a 27 (or so) day cycle (AF should start within 1-2 days of taking your last medicated pill, so 5+21...+1?). It's been awhile, I don't remember for sure. After stopping, I would think you would return to your normal cycle within 1-2 cycles. Hope this helps!

@CupQuakeWalk: my RE put me on BCP after my second loss. It helped prevent pregnancy, but also made sure my uterine lining was where it needed to be. I took it from August - October, so two cycles on BCP spanning three months. (I started mid-month)
I had a normal cycle each month on it. I was a Sunday start, and got my period on a Wednesday like clock work.
They had me start Clomid on CD1 in October, though.

@CupQuakeWalk: Don't feel dumb! When I was contracepting, I used to keep an extra pack on hand (and occasionally extend my cycle by a week) because a 28-day cycle seemed so short!
