DS (4.5) is going through shoes like nobody's business because he is wearing through them so fast! We have tried Nike and Stride Rite. He's had his Stride Rite for 2 weeks and they look AWFUL already. Help! He's a size 12.

My son is 4 and we cycle between black vans, red saucony, and white all stars (Velcro). So far so good! They rarely wear out before his feet grow. That said they’re only for school. On the weekends it’s Uggs or Crocs!!

Have you tried Plae or See Kai Run shoes? Plae seemed to last quite awhile for my DD.

Keen Chandler and Plae hold up well in our house. My kiddo has consistently outgrown both of those brands before they wore out (or even got close).

I haven't done it myself, but a friend is trying out the Nike adventure club for her 8 year old that burns through shoes like crazy. She's only in her first month or 2, so she doesn't have an official opinion yet.

I second @lilyofthewest: ...Keen Chandlers are awesome. We went through 3 pairs and I saved them as spares as we outgrew them because they were in great shape still. We also machine washed them freely.

We have had good luck with the tsukihoshi brand. They are machine washable and my kids grow out of them before wearing out of them.
