Anyone have any experiences to share with me about either infections or repeat D&C after miscarriage.
I've been bleeding for six weeks, had D&C 10 weeks ago. I have a doctor appt tomorrow, and I'm really scared that I'm going to find out I have an infection or they didn't get everything with D&C. Can these issues cause permanent infertility?

Not totally the same but I got a massive infection from retained tissue after delivery. I was on the verge of going into septic shock. I had an emergency D&C.
As far as the doctors and everyone knows, it has had no impact on my fertility.

when i had mine i bled for 10 weeks straight. i made an appointment and stopped bleeding the day before it, nothing was wrong and she got it all.. it is diffrent for everyone, so i wouldnt worry just yet. do make an appointment though!

@runnerd: I bled for an incredibly long time after my D&C. I had the surgery at the very beginning of June and was still bleeding in the middle of July. I talked with my OBGYN and they indicated that it can happen. What I also didn't realize was that my period had come back at the tail end of my bleeding from the D&C...so it made it seem as if it was a longer bleed rather than the D&C and then my period. 8 months after I had the D&C, I found out I was pregnant with my DS.
Hoping your case is the same. Keep that doctor's appointment, but try not to stress yourself out. Is it still heavy bleeding or just lingering bleeding?

I had to have 2 D&C's after my miscarriage. She just didn't get everything, so she did it again using an ultrasound to be sure. I had crazy bleeding, to the point that I had to sit on the toilet for hours because I would soak up a pad in less then a minute. After my 2nd D&C my doctor said I could TTC again my next cycle, and I got pregnant with LO on my first try.

@runnerd: I didn't have a d&c but I bled for 8 weeks after my "medically managed" mc, then got my period at 10 weeks. Just thought I'd share, I wouldn't worry too much about still bleeding but it's good you're going to the doctor!!

I'm interested in this because like @zippylef: I had an infection after delivery and my midwife said she didn't it would affect anything, but she said long ongoing infections did affect fertility. So I'm kind of scared.

@runnerd: I totally understand. I felt the same way, it was a long 10 weeks spent being upset and frustrated and feeling like clearly my body was f-Ed up. It turns out it wasn't, since I went on to have a healthy baby. Keep your chin up!!!! It's going to get better

Thinki of you! My bleeding didn't last that long but my cycles are messed up now. It's hard not feeling broken.

@runnerd: I absolutely understand, and I felt the exact same way. Everyone I had talked to had bleeding for maybe a week or two. I felt like I was the only one who had prolonged bleeding.

Is there the faintest of faint second lines in this pic? DH and I both saw something but were tired. Or maybe crazy.
I'm so glad I go to the doctor today. I'm scared I might have somehow got myself a chemical pregnancy the 3 days I didn't bleed this month, that was about 10 days ago we last DTD, and I've bled every day since.

@2PeasinaPod: There was def something there when we looked in person, but we weren't sure if maybe with wondfo's if you look hard enough you can see where the line would be even if not positive?

@runnerd: I do see a light line, but I had a bunch of bad wondfo tests that had lines like that, so while it may be something, it may not. Here's one of the bad ones with a light line that wasn't a real +. I don't have any experience with D&Cs, but I did bleed for 6 wks after a MC a long time ago & it was a painful reminder, but no infections or complications. I hope they have some answers for you today! Hugs

@runnerd: I'm hoping it was a bad test too for you. It is promising that you did have a break from bleeding. The same exact thing happened to me. I finally had a break from bleeding right as we went on vacation to the Bahamas. But then my bleeding returned while we were in the Bahamas, and that was my period. I thought it was just a continuation of the D&C, but was really my period.
Keep us posted on what the doctor says today!
