@Sweetooth. That is so cool you went to a yoga for fertility class. I would have broken down too! Nice to have a safe space to do that in.
@MrcCB: So exciting! Best of luck. We can suffer through the TWW together.
@Mrs.Someone: Sounds like a plan! Keep us updated!
I was nervous for my IUI yesterday, but it went fine. One troubling thing happened. While I was in the office waiting, I found out my brother was in the ER (he has a history of mental illness) so I was quite upset. I just decided to let my parents handle it and kind of checked out. It sounds selfish, but I just couldn't deal with it at the time.
Last night, I had some pretty intense cramping and gassy, bloated feeling. My stomach is LARGE. I went to the clinic today. They said it could be a "touch of OHSS" but that the only recommendation is to monitor the symptoms, take it easy, and stay hydrated. I am not too worried about it. Feeling positive in general about everything since it seems I had two good follices and DH's count was high (70 million).

@raintreebee: I hope your IUI yesterday is successful! Did give yourself the ovidrel? I'm a little nervous about doing that tonight. Are you planning on testing out the trigger, or waiting?
pear / 1531 posts
@MrsCB: I did give it to myself this month (my doc did last month). DH woke up with me at 3 am to help, but by the time he stumbled out of the bedroom I had already done it. It wasn't bad at all. The needle is small, and the medicine doesn't hurt going in. I think the difficulty is just getting over the mental block of injecting yourself with something. Mind over matter!
pear / 1531 posts
@MrsCB: Forgot to mention that I will likely test out the trigger. I did this last month, and it lasted about five or six days. I think that timeline is very variable though.
coconut / 8472 posts
@raintreebee: Wow, 3 am? We're just doing timed intercourse so I guess our timing luckily doesn't have to be quite so precise. I'm going to test out the trigger too, I was thinking I'd start around CD4.

@Grace: I know what you mean about the cost of it. I think it's the pace that I can handle right now though. I hope this class gives me a good introduction and I can find another one that I can continue with afterwards.
@raintreebee: I bet that was hard to hear the news of your brother while you were waiting for your IUI. I think it's ok to focus on you in that moment. It's not selfish at all. Hope you're doing well, taking it easy and hydrating.
@MrsCB: Glad to hear the trigger wasn't bad. Hope you are doing well too!

@sweetooth: Glad to hear that you liked your yoga class I haven't been to a class in a long time but I bought a 20 class pass so will be taking it up again. It's not tied to fertility but it has helped me detoxify and exercise.
@raintreebee: I wish you all the best with this IUI and hope it is successful!
Well, I am on CD1. Cycle 14. I didn't symptom spot at all but I knew that it wasn't our month. Again.
I think I'm going to bite the bullet and call a RE - there is a doctor whom my OBGYN recommended that does a 15 min phone consult for free and while it's not an actual appointment I don't think it could hurt to at least talk to someone. I know that I said I have to be ok with trying on our own for a bit longer with the stuff we can do (supplements, preseed, etc) but I realized this morning that if nothing we tried worked this past year, why would it happen in the next few months? Cost is an issue and while we can't dive into IUIs (we may be able to do one) or anything like that just yet, I'm hoping that by just talking to someone I can get some direction (maybe something we haven't tried). I'm still going to continue with acupuncture and take vitamins this cycle.
Last month I was a bit more laxed about everything (plus I was sick) but today I feel this urge and drive to get some answers. I am also just tired of the emotional rollercoaster month after month. And the facebook updates of babies, u/s, cute pics of Halloween costumes, and people being pregnant all around me are just getting to me. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent. I seem to write a lot when it's the start of a cycle.
nectarine / 2705 posts
@MK0180: HUGS - cycle after cycle, it never gets any easier. I think it's good to talk with someone about getting answers to the "WHY". It can take time to get answers too, that's what I'm discovering. I decided to seek out answers at cycle 13, and now here I am approaching cycle 16, still working through the tests, and processing some of the answers that I am getting...and still with no idea of when I might be pregnant.
Talking helps. Sharing helps. And realizing that it's ok to seek help, helps too.
CD1 sucks. HUGS.

@MK0180 - sorry to hear it! Have you had any blood tests? Some of the issues the CD3 blood tests look for are easy fixes (thyroid especially), so it might be an inexpensive thing to try first. Also, maybe ask your acupuncturist about herbs? Mine mentioned she wants to start me on them on CD3-4 (so today). I'll let you know what I'm told so maybe it can help you too.
kiwi / 545 posts
@Mrs.Someone: I did have bloodwork on hormone levels and egg quality and that came out normal. I have not done CD3 blood tests yet so maybe this is something she can recommend. I also need to contact my insurance company to see if any meds will be covered. Oh and herbs! Thanks for reminding me about this - I will ask my acupuncturist when I see her on Thursday but I would appreciate what was recommended for you, too!
pomelo / 5228 posts
@MK0180 - A quick herbs update for you! She gave me a bottle of powder to drink as hot tea for CD4-10 to help ovulation. No idea whats in it, but it kindof smells like celery and cayenne (I'm sure thats not it!) Definitely ask your acupuncturist about it, sorry I can't give you more details though.

@Mrs.Someone: Thank you! I'll be sure to ask her tonight when I have my appointment
I have a call to a RE next Tuesday so hopefully she can guide me to what we can do now and what we should anticipate should we pursue other avenues. It's a small step but a step nonetheless

@MK0180: best wishes on taking that step to talk with an RE. It was daunting for me to make that step but I felt so much better after my first RE appt.

Can we do another "status update" type of thing? I'm totally behind on where everyone is, and I think we had quite a few joiners after we first did this a while back.
Age: 30, Husband: 29
Location: Ohio
TTC: 10 months
Appointments: Had first RE appt this past Wednesday. More bloodwork scheduled for CD3 of next cycle and also HSG next cycle (exact date TBD)
Results: Although last bloodwork showed anovulation, this week's ultrasound showed a good follicle (hopefully ovulating this weekend) on the right ovary and a "suspicious" left ovary (possibly PCOS-ish). Husband's SA was slightly low.
Plan: Bloodwork and HSG next cycle, if all is good then we'll move on to IUI. Canceling the Clomid my other Dr. ordered (for now).

Great Idea! I'm always lost on this thread with who is who.
Age: 27, Husband: 51
Location: Oregon
TTC: 8 cycles, 7 months
Appointments: Had my first OB/GYN appointment 2 weeks ago..and scheduled a blood test for ovulation for CD 21 (next Monday)
Results: None Yet
Plan: She wanted to focus on DH before she does much with me, so we've scheduled his SA but he has failed to "perform" 3 times. Trying again tomorrow.

I agree, this is a good idea!
Age: 23, Husband: 31
Location: Texas
TTC: 18 months
Appointments: nothing upcoming
Results: Everything is normal with me. My husband has a low sperm count/motility/morphology because of varicoceles. He had surgery to fix that in March and it has helped some.
Plan: Natural IUI for now. Our first IUI cycle was unsuccessful. We should be going for our next one at the end of the month.

I've been feeling bad that I haven't been commenting on this thread lately, but I wanted to let you know that I am still reading your posts, keeping my fingers crossed for you and wishing you all the best! And, I also wanted to note that you should definitely try to keep hope that it can all turn around. I'm still shocked that our second FET/IVF worked after all the disappointments and failures. I wish with all my heart that you find something that works for you!

Age: 31, Husband: 34
Location: Washington
TTC: 9 months
Appointments: Just weekly acupuncture appointments, trying to figure out getting a SA, timing has been an issue.
Results: Nothing yet. I should get my CD3 blood work back any day now. Unless there is a major sign of infertility, I don't plan on any interventions until we hit a year.

Yeah, at some point I wanted to update the roll call but found it really hard to keep up with the info in everyone's posts! This will make it much easier to start over!

Age: 29, Husband: 30
Location: MA
TTC: 8 months
Appointments: Follow up with OB/GYN last month, did CD3 blood work a couple weeks ago, will do CD 21 blood work next week. First endocrinologist (not RE, just regular E) appt next Thursday.
Results: High TSH levels (underactive thyroid)
Plan: Go on thyroid meds to get my TSH level down, and go on progesterone suppositories regardless of CD21 test outcome.

I been reading this thread for a while but haven't joined in yet.
Age: 34, Husband: 36
Location: CA
TTC: 11 months
Appointments: Non right now. I've been seeing my obgyn who is a fertility specialist since June.
Results: HSG normal, Saline sonogram normal, all blood test for me normal. DH's SA came back with low motility. That is our only issue.
Plan: Oh boy, where do I start. I have been on a ton of supplements and metformin for a while now. We had our first IUI with femara and a HCG trigger shot this cycle. I am currently in the TWW and having fund with progesterone suppositories at the moment. Hopefully this IUI works! If not we will have IUI #2 at the beginning of December.

@JustDarling. Welcome to the thread. So sorry you have to join us but glad we all have found one another. Btw, you and I are the same age, as are our DHs, and we have been trying for the same amount of time!
My roll call info:
Age: 34, Husband: 36
Location: NYC
TTC: 11 months
Appointments: Have followup with RE on 11/20 to discuss next steps.
Results: Normal HSG, normal blood tests, ultrasound shows endometriosis on left ovary (could be elsewhere), SA results great except for borderline morphology
Plan: Currently in the TWW of IUI #2 (150 mg of Clomid, which kicked my a$$, and Ovidrel). We will do either one more round of IUI or just move on to IVF if this one doesn't work. Tentative plan is to do IVF in February or March.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
@justdarling: it sounds like we're going through similar experiences. If my next IUI is unsuccessful then I'll start supplements too.
apricot / 452 posts
@Leialou: is your next IUI going to be natural also? Good luck with this one.@raintreebee:
@raintreebee: Good luck wit your IUI. This TWW sucks!!! I've heard some horror stories about clomid. Hopefully you don't have to do that again.
For you girls who have done IUI did your doctors restrict or limit how much you can exercise during the TWW? I was supposed to run a 5k this weekend (I was going to sign up for the 10k but was hoping that I would be pregnant so though the 5k was a better option) and my doctor told me that I cannot exercise at all right now. According to her, my job is to work on getting pregnant by letting my body rest. I am just wondering how typical this is. Exercise is my stress release so this is actually pretty tough on me.

Hi everyone
My info:
Age: 34, Husband: 28
Location: MA
TTC: 5 months
Appointments: Blood test (for pregnancy) 11/21
Plan: I just finished up a round of clomid/ovidrel and I'm 2DPO! This is the first time I've ovulated, so it's exciting for me. I'm going to start testing out the trigger tomorrow or Sunday. If this cycle isn't successful, it could get complicated. I'll likely get AF while away for Thanksgiving, and my RE won't start me on another round of Clomid without another CD3 ultrasound :-S. So I might have to skip a month, but since I don't ovulate on my own I'll have to take provera again.

Age: 31, Husband: 34 (in a few weeks)
Location: NJ
TTC: 8 cycles, 7 months
Appointments: Consult w/ new RE 11/20, most likely doing CD3 b/w 11/23, new RE will probably want a 4th(!) SA
Results: Normal u/s and HSG, 2 SAs showing very low motility due to varicocele, 1 normal SA
Plan: Not sure anymore...we were going to do IVF w/ ICSI until previous clinic gave us normal SA while trying to sell us on a course of 3-6 IUIs which sounded shady. We can't see how motility goes from 10% to 58% in one month so I'm not really willing to do more than 1 IUI at the most; we'll see what the new RE says.

@MrsCB: Congrats on ovulating! Yay!
@spaniellove: Thanks so much for keeping track of us.
@justdarling: Yes, my doctor wasn't keen on me running. He said that you really need blood flow near the uterus and that running would cause the blood to flow other places. Another RE told me that high impact was not good either (I see different doctors at the various appts). Finally, a third RE told me that because my ovaries seemed a little over stimulated from the Clomid to definitely not run when I am stimming. I have also read studies that indicate lower IVF outcomes when exercising, but probably no one really knows. It is incredibly hard not to have that stress relief. One of the hardest parts of this whole thing. I basically only run about one week a month now and am going crazy because this whole TTC thing is so stressful, as is my job. What I have done is essentially started walking four-five miles several times a week, although not sure if that is too much. It definitely helps for the stress. Time-consuming though.

I just got my bloodwork back (for some reason snail mail via my doc was faster than digitally direct from the lab!) Anyway, most things are OK, with some 'normal' and 'good' mixed in. I'm going to show it to my acupuncturist next week though, since my doc labeled a slightly low thyroid as 'OK' in the past.
Still trying to figure out getting an SA done. The clinic we were referred to has ridiculously small windows for it, and only in the middle of the day during the week. I found another clinic that does weekends and has better hours overall, but I need to get a new referral. And of course its getting to be too close to O anyway. Thinking of ordering a kit from Amazon, figuring out that it would tell us the basics at least, and if there is cause for concern.
AND this sweet song just came on in iTunes making me tear up a little:
(get your tissues ready ladies!)
What a long rambling post I hope you all have a nice weekend! So glad its finally here...

@Mrs.Someone: Omg, how is someone not supposed to cry through that!!! Thanks for posting. Glad to hear your blood results look good.

pomelo / 5228 posts
@spaniellove I haven't done too much research yet, but I was looking at this one: http://www.amazon.com/Micra-Sperm-Test-Count-Motility/dp/B000SLM504/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1352513993&sr=8-2&keywords=sperm+analysis
I'd love your insight! Which one did you use, and do you think it was accurate?

Age: 37, Husband: 38
Location: Kentucky
TTC: 10 months, 12 cycles
Appointments: Have been to the RE for a consultation and then back for two additional ultrasounds to monitor ovulation in the past 3 cycles.
Results: After trying 5 cycles on Clomid, I switched to Femara this month. Unfortunately, I do not have any mature follicles, so this cycle will not be successful. We will be moving on to cycle 13 in a couple weeks. I am also on Thyroid medication and have been doing acupuncture and taking herbs for about 2 months.
Plan: I will take the max. dosage of Femara next cycle and see if that works. If that cycle doesn't look any better, we will probably have to move on to injectibles. DH and I have started to discuss IUI rather than timed intercourse.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Mrs.Someone: Ah! I'm thinking about that one, although it's kind of pricey to just keep around. We used this one before going to the urologist:
http://www.amazon.com/Fairhaven-Health-SpermCheck-Fertility/dp/B007N8FWB4/ref=pd_sim_hpc_1
It only tells you if count is above a minimum number, which it was right about, but the real problem was something it didn't measure. The test you mentioned was recommended by one of the knowledgeable posters on the FF MFI board - her DH has had several SAs done, but she also keeps the test around just to check. I'm thinking of getting it just to see which of our SAs we should believe because getting doing 4 in 4 months sounds ridiculous and the different results call for totally different treatments.
pomelo / 5228 posts
@spaniellove - Thanks for the info! The decision is up to DH on what to do, but hoping he goes for this option since I think it would be pretty cool to see.
