thinking of you ladies! our IF journey was so, so difficult and obviously did not result in pregnancy. i have PCOS and my hubs' SA was...not so great (don't want to share too much for his privacy). before the SA we did 3 months of clomid before my OB (who i don't go to any more because i did not like the way she handled our TTC journey) thought to have my husband tested, too. we were TTC for 16 months before we got the results that made us realize that having bio children wasn't going to happen. we were heartbroken and i surely hope your journeys are not similar and that they end in BFPs and healthy, sticky babies, but just wanted to let you know i'm here for you if you want to chat!

i have bg twins from ivf. took us about 3-4 years of ttc, 1 miscarriage, 3 cycles of iui+clomid, and 1 cycle of ivf.

@anonysquire: I'm not all that familiar with PCOS so totally let me know if I'm wrong here. It sounds like you're onto something with that mood-hormone connection, and I think a hormone imbalance related to the PCOS could be related to the anxiety. Has your OB done tests for your hormone levels?

@spaniellove: I need to ask but I really don't think he did. I know he tested my thyroid but I can't remember what else he tested. I really can't wait til Janurary when we see the specialist. It will be nice to see someone who has a better idea of my problems and someone who isn't also seeing my pregnant sister. Should I not wait til Janurary to get my hormones retested you think?

I just want to pop in and say I'm supporting you ladies! I haven't been diagnosed with anything (yet) but I've been TTC for 6 months with a 9 day LP, so I have a sinking feeling that there's something wrong. I have a follow up appointment with my Dr next month to do blood work, etc, so that's what I'm looking forward to.

Just wanted to say hi and big big, ridiculously warm hugs to all of you guys

I'm early in the process as well. At the start of this past August, after 13 months of no success, I knew I needed to take the next steps and get in to the doctor's office to find out what is going on with my body. The reason for the delay, the frustrating delay, is the timing of appointments and the periods that never fail to appear each month for me. I have been taking this month "off" to let myself prepare for the next emotional battles of medical intervention.

My first RE appointment is 9/27. I hope that testing can start pretty soon, but again with the timing of my period, I think I'll be out another month. Fingers crossed some of the testing can begin. I took care of my 3-day bloodwork with my OB/GYN but was told that I should hold off on the rest of the testing for it to be covered by my insurance under infertility.

@raintreebee: I will be 34 in November and I'm getting pretty impatient too. Best of luck to you as you begin Clomid.

@spaniellove: I think it was a good decision to hold off on the varicocele surgery to take advantage of the good timing for you. Good luck with your upcoming RE appointment!

@Trailmix: "grab n stab time" - Is it hard? I feel like I'm too much of a wuss to jump into that...but I know may need to get over myself if that is what it takes. You can do it!

@Grace: From what I understand, it's not really an STD, so they never check you for it at your regular checkups. Most people DO have mycoplasma present in their bodies at some time, and some kinds don't cause any harm. Other types can cause infertility and early miscarriages - and it's too expensive to type between the two. So after 1 year of trying without success, my dr. swabbed me, (like a pap smear) and I tested positive for it. A round of free antibiotics from the grocery store cleared it right up, and i got pregnant the next cycle, though it didn't stick.

Hey ladies, I'm mainly just a lurker here but this post caught my eye. I wanted to wish all of you the best of luck! It took me almost two years and eventually IVF to conceive and I'm due with our baby boy in 11 days. The infertility battle was by far the hardest thing I've ever been through. I had a miscarriage, three surgeries, one of which was major, then found out our only shot was IVF. It was crazy, but totally worth it in the end!!! I wish you all the best!!!!

Hi ladies. I was TTC #1 for 20 months (now 23 weeks). We had low morphology and I always spotted before my period. We had a chemical preg cycle 14. We did 3 50mg Clomid IUI cycles with no success. Then we got pregnant on our first IVF cycle (Bravelle, Menopur, Cetrotide). We had 12 follies, 9 mature, 8 fertilized normally, 2 transferred and 2 frozen.

I'll also put this out there because I've already been public about it, but with our 2 embryos transferred, we were initially pregnant with 4 babies! (1 singleton, 1 set of identical triplets). We truly didn't realize this was a possibility, but it seems more common than is talked about (although trips is extremely rare). We decided to reduce to the one singleton because of health concerns.

Regarding stims before SA...unless the SA is really out of the ordinary, i.e. no sperm, no motility, there's not a whole lot they can do. My doc recommended L-Carnitine and CoQ10 for my husband to take, but that's it. The SA is cheap, so it makes sense to do first, but it doesn't help a whole lot (although it did lead us to ICSI).

This is our 18th cycle trying and I am expecting my period this Sunday. (Obviously, I'd prefer she doesn't show, but I don't have high hopes). We waited a long time before seeing a dr. about infertility because I was in denial and thought maybe we were just unlucky. Also, there are sticky family dynamics (my older sister has been trying a little over a year now and has made it clear that she will be really upset if we get preg. before her - she does not know we've been trying longer and I just don't have the energy to explain at this point).

Anyway, I am currently seeing a regular OB for testing because our insurance doesn't cover any RE expenses. I've had an HSG (everything seemed clear) and CD21 progesterone test that came back low (8 I think) but not so low that it was definitively the problem. Yesterday I had CD23 progesterone, prolactin and TSH blood work done. My husband's getting his SA soon (we're tentatively planning on next Monday depending on his work schedule). Hopefully, I'll find out the results soon and we can move forward. My OB thinks he may put me on Clomid next cycle (pending the blood work) which I'm ecstatic about because I'll finally feel like we're DOING something instead of waiting and waiting and waiting.

Emotionally, I feel awful because I'm at that age where every day there's a new Facebook post announcing pregnancy and I am really excited for my friends, but also starting to get bitter. I'm working on it though...

@Grace, it's almost like you read my mind this morning. For the almost 10 months we've been trying, I've been really positive. Especially after a chemical pregnancy early on, I kept telling myself that there is nothing to worry about. Except, today, for some reason, I noticed that facade of "I'm not worried!" has started to chip.
@twodoghouse - I feel exactly like you do about all my facebook friends pregnancies. I'm excited for everyone, but I'm starting to realize that I don't have any friends who have had to try for much longer than a month or two (if they were even trying at all!) before they got their first or second babies.

Anyhow, long story still rather long, thanks for the thread! The timing couldn't have been better for me. I needed to remember that what I'm going through isn't unique and it isn't that bad either. So Thanks!
