Does anyone know the difference between the regular online ING savings account and the Kids savings account? I recently opened one for myself and I am about to open one for my daughter. Does it matter which one I choose they seem to have the same interest rate of .8%

I have some for my nephews. I don't think it matters as for the interest rate. I think it's just that you can put the LO's name on the account, too.

Did you know you could get much better interest rates with a local credit union? We have one that's 4.25% and one that's 6%.

For some reason the thought of having a account at a "credit" union scares me. -
@Mrs. Yoyo: nope, just regular checking and savings. Some of them have this rate on only the first $1000. I have another that does it on the first $25000.

@regberadaisy: they are Amazing! All the money goes back into the community and they are not for profit! I've moved all my money to credit unions. What scares you.

@Mrs. Jacks: I just did a quick google search. I think just the fact that they are called credit unions I think they are somehow similar to credit cards! Silly, I know.

Here is a link to credit unions in the US. You don't always have to be a member of a certain group to belong. For example, the Boeing Employees Credit Union takes anyone who lives in Washington... etc. Look around and you should be able to find some great interest rates and then consider moving ALL your money to a credit union to take power and money away from the big banks! You'll be surprised at the amazing car and home loans you can get through credit unions too... They have to plow all their earnings back into the community, so they pass it on to you!

Oh I wasnt aware of those credit union's interest rates, but I like the fact that ING has no minimums to worry about in terms of earning interest. I will look into that though
