I know this is a ridiculous thing to be annoyed over, but I can't help it. I hate hate hate random hashtags and emoticons on Instagram, especially now that they run over into Facebook. I just don't get 99% of their use. What is the point? Just to see if you can come up with something witty? I highly doubt you need to sort pictures into things like #noooo.
Do you use hashtags and/or emoticons? An I missing something awesome I don't know about? Does anyone loathe them like I do?

I don't use either. Hashtags seem very high-school to me, and I don't have an iPhone to make emoticons with!

I used hashtags when I made my gingerbread house and documented the process, because it was part of a contest.
Otherwise, not really.

I don't use hashtags because I don't want people I don't know looking at my pictures. I don't think I use emoticons. Neither of them bother me.

@pui: See, that I understand. When you're using them as part of something. I just don't understand when someone uses 10 for each picture that literally just describes every single element of that picture.

I'm cool with hashtags, but hate emoticons. Adults using emoticons in a professional organization bug me to no end. Smart, rational adults filling up their messages with emoticons makes me "headdesk" so much.

I don't use hashtags to sort my pictures. I honestly think it's a lot more fun to see a picture and read sarcastic or witty hashtags than, "Here's a picture of Olivia - as you can see, she is refusing to go to sleep and flung her binky out of her crib!"...I don't find them annoying

@Leialou: I was worried about this, but I'm pretty sure if you have a private account randoms still can't see them. For instance, I clicked a friend's hashtag and it said there were 7 photos listed but I could only see 3 (not all my friend' sphotos, but all photos with that hashtag).

I use both, but neither go to my FB (not my stream anyways).
The hashtags I use are for groups or challenges that I want to share my pics with and at one time I used specific ones to keep all my type specific pics in one place. ie I did a daily bible verse & "lesson" at #ryldailyverse and of course I use emoticons, they're the best (I don't use them often though).
