I posted on a local FB page asking for Interior Design help.
Someone mentioned PB since they do it for free with no obligation to buy anything....but.... I would feel like I did have to buy something -
Another girl posted who works for a firm and does consults on the side - she charges $200 for 2 hours
What would you do? Keep looking? Go with PB?
Go with local person? (Is $200 a good price??)

Honestly, I'd probably do PB and see if they have any broad suggestions that hadn't occurred to me (but I'm terrible at interior design.) If I didn't think it was very helpful, I'd look into hiring an actual consultant.
I think before you pay someone for a consultation, I'd ask for a portfolio and recommendations to make sure your styles align.

@raspberries: to clarify I don't want to buy any new furniture - I want someone to rearrange what I have to make it look better

@Mamaof2: DO you have any adult education classes offered near you? I went to one class, cost me like $45 where we did just that, rearrange existing pieces in a current room.

You could try Havenly. It's an online service and seems pretty reasonable.

I found a designer on Thumbtack. She was just out of design school looking to build a portfolio. She charged me $99 for 10 hours and after that $65/ hour. Having a designer didn't ease the design process for me, but she had some great ideas.
I think the in-store design services can be great if you have a piece of furniture you were already planning to buy. I have used Bassett and Haverty's services. Again, it didn't work out where the proposed room was 100% what I liked, but they were a nice starting point.

I think Havenly seems like a good deal, too. I've been thinking about trying it myself. Just have to get the husband on board.
