We are going to discuss the summer and next year with our nanny soon and I am unsure whether a raise is expected or standard. We already pay her on the high end of the going rate here in NYC ($700/week for 32 hours, comes out to btwn $21-22/hr to take care of our twins) and we can't really afford to go higher but we love her and don't want her to be upset or feel unappreciated. I'm just not sure what is 'standard' in this situation...any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated!
I guess I should also add that in this conversation, I am hoping she will agree to 6 weeks part-time this summer since I'm a teacher and not working, so maybe I feel guilty about this even though our initial agreement was only through June...
