I don't want to scare you, but our resident nudist is almost 7! But some of that is symptomatic for her: she doesn't like how most clothes feel on her skin. At the age she is now, it is much less problematic in terms of going out. She completely understands when she needs to wear clothes. With the exception of going outside when we are at home. Her reasoning is that there is no one around other than family (which is true for the most part), but our reasoning is that there could be a UPS truck, or the mailman, or a salesperson, and so we just wear clothes outside of the house. She does comply, but she will argue the point on it fairly often, only for that one particular situation.

One of my good friends has a 2.5 year old, and just before 2 years, they could not keep clothes on her at all. Every time they came over for dinner, she'd be naked or down to her diaper within an hour. But it actually passed within a few months, and now she looooves clothes, so it was just a phase for her.

@PurpleUnicorn: That part isn't actually that bad. She's gotten to an age where it's more self-regulating and she doesn't want most people to see her without clothes. So she will only want to be naked when it's just us (meaning Mr. T, Lorelei, me or some combination thereof). But the arguing about going outside that way can get wearing. She argues like a seasoned lawyer!

For most kids it seems to last a few months or maybe a year. But pretty much all kids get to where that just feels "off" to them (thank you subtle societal norms!) and so it stops. Even for Ellie, who is less inhibited than most for a number of reasons.

My little niece is 3 and has been in a naked stage for a while now. She loves clothes and picking out her outfits but she also likes to run naked like a wild lady. It's been super hot and humid this year so I can't really blame her for wanting to be naked all the time. She's slowly growing out of it but my nephew is starting to want to naked too. Probably because of his sister though. They never disrobe in public or others' homes but as soon as they get to their home...bam! Naked butts everywhere.

Haha I just went upstairs a few minutes ago to find me 23 mont old completely in the buff! I need to do an inspection to make sure he didn't leave any surprises for me to clean up! I guess i should start potty training.. My DD never went through a phase like this!
