Post bootcamp, have you been maintaining the PT'ing in a particular way that you could convey to the sitter? Remind LO to tell you when she needs to go constantly, or go at intervals? Rewards? I would try to get the sitter more involved in whatever capacity she can..

Maybe your LO feels as though she doesn't have to "please" the sitter with potty success. Perhaps a diff type of reward system just for the sitter? If she's going to be with this sitter for the rest of August, I'd want to try and save as much of the PT'ing success now or you may just have to re-train her when daycare starts up again. But, I think kids tend to do better with it at daycare if they see other kids going. Peer pressure!

@JoJoGirl: Yeah, I've had to die to self like a hundred times on this journey or it would be the end of me. As I have said time and again, just keep chugging.

@JoJoGirl: I know, I know! I already told her teachers we are doing boot camp over Labor Day weekend and we will be sending her without them. Well maybe for naps, I haven't got to that part in the book yet. I am starting chapter 3 tonight.

@JoJoGirl: R is dry after nap 50% of the time. But I will keep her in a diaper for a while to be safe.

@JoJoGirl: I thought with Oh Crap, Potty Training-- you don't prompt and set a timer? Stage 1 or whatever is bottomless, and they need to tell you when they need to go. That's what worked for us when we started to potty train.

@HabesBabe: the author states that it takes about 3 weeks for children to realize they need to go before they do

@HabesBabe: well, a lot of the first and second blocks involves some prompting, whether you point out the toilet and let it be, or you take them to the toilet and have them sit and attempt to go, particularly after sitting for a long time or the other easy catches. She was against over prompting, which is often met with resistance. The whole "come, it's time to pee" thing, etc

@Kemma: same for us! Reminding E too often totally pissed her off more and made her refuse to sit for us. I guess toddlers don't like to be nagged

@JoJoGirl: We did OCPT about a year ago. I noticed that LO responded better to my Mom than my Dad. My Mom was great about properly prompting (lets put on our shoes, sit on the potty, then go to the park). My Dad would freak out the second LO was showing her tells and LO would flat out refuse to go to the potty for him (and things would escelate into a power struggle if DH, my Mom, or I didn't quickly intervene).

I think that how your sitter is acting could be impacting how LO is responding. If your sitter is really stressed out about the whole thing, then LO could be picking up on it. The book talks about getting to a point where you do not care if LO pees on themself or the floor. If your sitter seems extra focused on the potty or doesn't react well when LO has an accident, then LO could be reacting to that. Hang in there this week and coach the sitter as much as possible on how to effectively prompt LO and what to do if there is an accident. Then refocus this weekend/next week. Hang in there!
