to decorate for the holidays? We aren't giving out candy this year for Halloween - I'm going to spend the evening at my sister's with her kids but I'm itching to pull out all of our Christmas and Chanukah decor.
Am I totally bananas?

Ha! I'm the same way. We moved a lot of furniture around for a bday party and don't want to move anything back because it's where the Xmas tree goes!
If I had it my way id start decorating November first. My husband has a strict Black Friday policy

Haha, probably, but you should do it anyways! Christmas decorations always put me in a better mood.

I want to decorate the first weekend in november. We might actually do it! This is our first year in our house, so we might as well go all out!

DO IT! If my husband would let me, I'd do it in August. I'm forced to wait until after Thanksgiving.

We also decorate on Black Friday. I would LOVE to decorate sooner but then I think about how LO is mobile now and I don't want to worry about her getting into stuff for a month longer (: If I could I would so my vote is go for it! (: I'm a pusher though... (:

@babycanuck: ..put down the wreath... step away from the menorah... nobody gets hurt..
I wouldn't do any outdoor stuff but if you feel like you are going to go through some holiday withdrawal I would go ahead with some indoor decor. I am an early starter too.. sometimes just having the boxes ready in my living area to get a peak at our beautiful ornaments ties me over until at least the beginning of November.

@Reese: Haha my husband started putting up lights with a roofer two weekends ago!! I've been holding back until after halloween to do things inside, but I'm in a reorganizing mood and that includes all of the holiday stuff. Really we only have a small tree, my electric menorah will go in the front window the week that Chanukah starts
I will say though.....the gifts I have bought are wrapped and sitting in the living room. lol

Lol! I put out lights on my back porch last week, but they're white lights so it's not technically Christmas-y. Yes, your totally bananas because it's not even thanksgiving yet!! Lol

Do it! We usually don't get a xmas tree until December and it's gone by New Years. I would love to start now! I am so excited for Halloween to be over so the holidays can start up

@jh524: haha ours are blue and white, they aren't plugged in yet, just sitting there. Canadian Thanksgiving has passed!

I would do it if it wasn't so much work! I don't think we will decorate this year. With remodeling, setting up the nursery, and being very pregnant with twins (EDD 1/30) a part of me just doesn't want to mess with it.

Yes, it's still October! lol. And what about Thanksgiving? (ETA: I should probably check where people are from, or at least look at their username, before assuming they celebrate Thanksgiving at the same time as me. Whoops!)
I reflexively try to not think about how soon the holidays are because I worked retail for 8 years and dreaded the madness of crazy customers that starts on Black Friday and doesn't end until the New Year. Then I remember I'm allowed to look forward to it now that I'm a SAHM this year. But I'm still not decorating until after Thanksgiving!

If it makes you happy then do it.
Sadly this year I won't be able to decorate until a few days before Christmas since we are moving the week before. And I wanted to go all out since it is DS first Christmas.

@babycanuck: I am having the same feeling! We bought our Christmas tree last year but never got to put it up! I really want to put it up!

@ALV91711: It's ok, when you do it for DS's second Christmas it will be more exciting. At that age he will get more out opening gifts, the glitter, etc.

Why not? There are commercials on tv!LOL! I want to, but don't feel like dragging all of that stuff out of the garage!

Eh, if you're crazy than I am too.
I also have nearly all my gifts bought. I've been wanting to decorate for weeks now. My husband would totally be on board (he's very much the "if it make you happy than why wouldn't you?" type), but I don't want to make Thanksgiving less special by having Christmas before it.
So... I guess I need some creative Thanksgiving decorations.

haha that is awesome. I never decorate before Thanksgiving (stupid America having it so late! lol) but if I was in Canada I'd probably decorate earlier! As it is I always drag all my Christmas stuff out the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so basically ASAP.

I wait until Thanksgiving. We keep our tree up until New Year's. I get kind of tired of it all and am ready for it all to be away, so a month is good enough for me!

@babycanuck: you can at least do Hanukkah because it starts at the end of November this year! I'll probably wait till after Thanksgiving for Christmas though.

Do it! I've pulled out the Christmas movies and music already...I think I'll wait till after Remembrance Day to decorate.
