It is completely redundant to my previous post and I'm still trying to conceive. I've heard spotting can be a sign of either ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage. Just wanted to know - is it possible to keep spotting infrequently during early gestation?

Absolutely! While spotting is something that usually "sounds the alarms," spotting in early pregnancy can be due to a lot of things.

@Curious_Katty: I spotted for about 8 weeks, mostly brown. I was on progesterone suppositories so I thought that might have been the cause but I am 5w3d now and on progesterone with no spotting! Baby#1 was perfectly healthy and my pregnancy and labor were wonderful.

Also, the internet makes it seem like spotting is abnormal when almost every woman I know had some spotting early on.

I had legit bleeding at 8 weeks and everything was fine. Bodies are weird.

I had two instances of full out bleeding and then two weeks of spotting, healthy baby boy. On the other hand, I also had a week of spotting that resulted in a miscarriage. They both started at 5w5d.

There are no absolutes in pregnancy. Some women spot, some bleed, some don't. It can be a sign of impending miscarriage, or it may not be. Either way, it isn't anything you can control.
