@QBbride: Yeah, I think my friends would agree. When I started using OPKs and temping they were all clueless and had never done anything like that.

@Mrs Hedgehog: "We knew how babies were made" - that was us basically. We were sorta-kinda-not really using NFP to prevent but we also knew that having a baby was a possibility if we didn't use protection & that was fine with us. Still, we were surprised when we got pregnant because I had always thought we would have to "try" because of irregular cycles, cysts, etc. I'm glad & grateful it was easy though!

I think people get the definition of NTNP wrong. IMO, NTNP means not charting, not using OPKs and just having sex whenever you feel like it. As soon as you know when you are Oing and you don't avoid sex on that day, I call that trying. I think you can only truly be NTNP if you don't know your cycles at all.

I think it also depends on whether you care or not about timing... If you don't care whether you get pregnant the first month or the 6th month or even a year from now, then you can just BD whenever you want. If you want to get pregnant as soon as possible then you'll likely pay attention to your cycle and BD close to ovulation.
