I've thought about getting a Rock and Play for LO to be, but I have 2 (large, oafy) dogs and I worry about the sturdiness of it. They can be careful, and I'm sure I can get them to stay away, but there's still a chance that they could hit it with a tail or something.
I do have a p&p, with a bassinet insert, and a crib, but I was just wondering about this about the r&p, since it's smaller and a lot more portable.

It's sturdy. The seat is hard plastic with a cover on it.

I like it because it gives her a safe place to sleep or hang out where she is away from the dog (compared to a bouncy seat or swing on the floor). My dog is pretty small- <30 lbs, but it is plenty sturdy to me. I think it would be fine unless they really crashed into it.

It is very sturdy, if the dog bumps into it, it will just rock back and forth which is what is is meant to do when you are trying to rock the baby to sleep

I think its super sturdy. Our 70 lb lab runs by it all the time and it just sets off the rocking motion, I would never worry about him tipping it over unless he jumped on it or something which he knows to be very careful around baby and would never do that.

Good thread! We're looking at getting one because it will keep LO off of the floor. We have a large, somewhat clumsy dog, too, but I am less worried about the RnP than I would be a bouncer. She's good about not knocking things over, but not so much about watching where she steps...

Yes! The legs aren't even straight (curved on the bottom so it rocks), so even if they hit it, it'll just.. rock.

@Dandelion: our cats were terrified of the rocking motion. They each jumped in it once and learned their lesson!

I know you got your replies already, but I'll just add that I tripped and fell into our rnp (not while the baby was in there, thankfully!) and alll of my weight landed on it. Didn't even budge....thing is solid lol

We got a Moses basket and stand, and my cats have left it alone (along with the crib). They are much more interested in the car seat and glider.

My cats have peeked into it, but the rocking (and baby!) scares them away.
