My sister is extra fertile. She got pregnant on her first try with each of her two LO's. It was insane.

Yes I think there are definitely people who are super super fertile. Probably has something to do with the make up of their eggs and their husbands sperm, but also with having a great uterine lining for an embryo to implant to. My good friend went off the pill to "think about having a baby" and got pregnant before she ever had a period, she then BF and didn't get her period back until 8months PP, she had one period, and got pregnant again before ever getting a second one. She's made for making babies. My husband I also have gotten pregnant on the first try twice (the first ended in miscarriage).

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I really do think it can have something to do with the combo of the two partners. I have a friend who needed ICSI and IVF to get pregnant because it was determined there was some sort of protein imbalance between her husband's sperm and her eggs so his sperm couldn't fertilize. I assume some couples have opposite situation where they are super attracted to each other? (All bees in the medical field just rolled on the floor laughing at my incomplete medical knowledge!)

I think that there are definitely people who have an easier time getting pregnant! I would probably put myself in that category. I got pregnant the first month we tried (MC) and the first month we tried after the miscarriage (another MC). We took 3 months off and I was pregnant again the next time we tried as well (Elliot). And then I got pregnant at 3-4 months PP. I had one PP period and got pregnant that cycle.

Even though I wish we didn't have the sticky baby struggles that we have had I'm so very thankful that we were able to easily get pregnant afterwards. I never ever take it for granted.

One of my friends swears she gets pregnant from even looking at a guy. Her first was unexpected when she was on the pill. Her 2nd and 3rd first month of trying.

@BabyBoecksMom: Aw I don't think fertility should be something to feel guilty about just like I don't think infertility should be something to feel ashamed about. It's not something any of us have any control over.

I believe I fall into this category. We are always vigilant with physical barrier birth control, so when we decided to try for our first, we had unprotected sex twice on days 12 and 13 of my cycle. Conceived Wagon Jr. Second time we wanted to try the shettles method, so we had unprotected sex once, on day 10 of my cycle. Conceived Lil Miss Wagon.

I know we are INCREDIBLY blessed.

The only things I can say that might give a hint as to why is 1) I've always had a very regular 28 day cycle, I can always predict within a day or two when my period is going to arrive; 2) We have never used hormonal birth control; 3) I am not familiar with this too much but I believe I have a very high level of CM-- always have, since puberty.

It's funny, I have PCOS and seriously struggle to ovulate, but the first time I did we got PG. Unfortunately it was a CP. Then it only took the second ovulating cycle after that to conceive again. I tell DH he has super sperm, lol. I guess our eggs and sperm are super attracted to one another :-D.

I only have one LO and she was a first try baby. But like @mrs. wagon, my cycles have always been super regular and of average length. I have used hormonal birth control, but I was off of it for about a year when we started TTC - not because I was planning on TTC, but just because the birth control made me feel "off" in terms of my sex drive/moods.

@mrs. wagon: I am going with "determined to exist." That describes my stubborn son 1000%!

@looch: yep... even though it's gross, LMW's super strong/stubborn attitude is very well explained by the fact that the sperm that made her survived in my body for 3 days before I ovulated.

My MIL has three kids, only one planned, the other two were BC babies.

My SIL has 5 kids and got pregnant on the first try, every time.

Another SIL got pregnant after being told in her 30s by numerous doctors that she couldn't ever get pregnant (she has a condition--I can't remember what it's called, but I think it's essentially a super overactive immune system--her body would attack any sperm, fertilized egg if they made it that far, or fetus. She was advised to not even try, because there was no way she'd be able to conceive and carry a child to term. Two months later she threw up in the shower and 7 months later she delivered her first of two sons. In this case, the joke is that my BIL has super sperm, lol.

My brother and SIL are super fertile. They conceived both times on the first try. They did the same timing thing and got a girl the second time, my adorable niece. We have a couple of friends who conceived quickly both times.

For us, it took 4 cycles, but even then, we wonder if the first couple of months weren't sexing at the right time.

I feel like there's got to be some 100% "optimal conditions" that is a combo of your health, CM, his sperm, horomones, etc. We couldn't get preg, I got on metformin, LITERALLY that cycle (and only got to DTD twice around O bc I was traveling) just 2 weeks after starting MF we got pregnant. I feel like MF put us closer to the 100% optimal conditions aka fertile myrtle status, lol. I definitely think some people are naturally more there. Kind of like how some people are just born with good or bad cholesterol, etc.

My one friend was not going to DTD until she was older because the women in her family tended to get pregnant soon after losing their V-card. She had two planned pregnancies and both of them happened the first go round. We've been blessed with not having troubles, I haven't had my period since 2010 though we would have liked to get pregnant a few months earlier but nursing was keeping it away. But ended up getting pregnant before any AF showed so DH is 2/2. I think he's starting to get worried we'll end up with 10 kids since I don't like hormonal BC, but I'm in my 30s and we managed through my 20s to not have kids using NFP so I think we're OK

Oh definitely. There are people who ovulate despite being on hormonal suppressants or who just get pregnant easily every single time they try. I'm sure it's also a factor that the guy has super sperm in many cases. Or an abundance. Just like some people are predisposed to be taller, faster, smarter, some are just more fertile
