what is this? he's had cradle cap on his scalp, we dealt with a "yeasty" rash on his neck with an antifungal+steroid cream but this on his eyelids and near his eyes is persistent. i notice some spots on his arms and abdomen but nothing in his diaper area? he sees his dr in a few days but i'm curious as to what the bees think.

Wow he's so cute! Sorry about those rash problems. My baby had terrible cradle cap all over his face and it was more scaley/flakey/crusty. That being said, it easily could be since it's in a different spot. Newborn skin is so tough! Does he seem itchy?

ehh, not really but he's still figuring out his hands. his neck rash had him screaming bloody murder but i think this is more just a looks worse than it feels kind of thing. i'm hopeful, anyway. it will be crusty/peeling by morning.

It felt like forever when he had all those rashes. He looked terrible. Now I can barely remember! It did linger behind the ears. Everytime I asked the doctor he would
Just give me the same duplicate information about infant skin care and say "if it's bothering him apply a small amount of hydrocortisone". I was like... How can I tell if it's bothering him??? He can't really itch! He did start scratching his poor ears later.

dr appt on monday, i've stopped using the cream as it's pretty strong but isn't totally getting rid of this. the rash will subside and then return and I can't keep using this cream. its above and under mainly one eye. patchy around his cheeks and chin and neck. any tips would be helpful. i'm so confused.

@rosegold: it kind of looks like stork marks? My LO has them on her eyelids and they're similar looking. No cure but time for those as they're a type of birthmark which are particularly visible after a bout of crying/rubbing eyes

My daughter got eczema under/around her eyes. Sometimes they would look really red/swollen, sometimes not too bad. We had to use hydrocortisone (so tricky in the eye area!), mostly at night. It did eventually clear up.

Do you think it could be baby acne? DD2 had it SO BAD when she was about that age - all over her face and eyes.

@BabyBoecksMom: no his dr said to me it definitely wasnt. i have considered milk/drool rash (which i think he gets on his chin nowadays) or a slight dairy intolerance. have cut back on dairy and surprise, the eyelid and under eye rash is no more. it was definitely raised and bumpy. never thought i would go without ice cream and yogurt, damn. now he just gets what looks like little pimples on his chin from drooling so dang much and rubbing his face constantly on my boob. just an update for anyone who may come across this desperate for answers (aka me the past few weeks!!) have been wiping his face or patting it with a warm or cold washcloth (got a 20pk on amazon wooo) to keep it from getting nasty and by bedtime it's usually gone.

no more yeast neck rash, we don't have thrush and his eyelids are not crusty and red and bumpy and gross. i know it bothers mama cause it's aesthetically displeasing but i was also convinced that when it would get that angry red or he woukd start fussing, the discomfort of any kind of rash was part of the cause.

I agree with @Ifyoulikepinacoladas it looks like the stork marks to me. My youngest has it on both her eye lids, and my older daughter has it on her forehead and nose. I can try and take a pic of my one daughters eye and show you, but she's awake right now and it's only visible if her eyes are closed. It pretty much looks the exact same as that though.
