Kellymom.com would say no baby self weans before 1 year old. It sound like it could be too many solids. Foods before 1 are just for fun and most calories should still be from BM. It could also be that she is distracted - as she gets older there are just so many things to do besides nursing. Have you tried in a quiet, dark room with lots of skin to skin contact? Also try and catch her when she is drowsy (first up in the AM, at naps, dream feed). Also try cutting back on solids and see if she comes back to the breast. I will say the twins have had their days when they weren't interested and I just nurse more often on those days.

If your goal is a year or longer just keep trying, she will come back!

@sunny: she should be getting her calories from you until 1 year. When you say bottom 1% do you know what chart they are using to measure? Most Dr's do not use the WHO chart that is based on exclusively breastfed babies and rather use a chart that was developed in the 1960's based on formula fed babies in the midwest. They aren't comparing apples to apples when they use the wrong charts. Please don't play into the fear! You are doing the best for your baby by EBF for 1 year with limited solids as is recommended by the AAP. Set your mind - you will make it a year, you made it this far you can do it.
My twins measure small also but I am 4"8 and my husband is 5"5 - of course our kids are small!!!
I PROMISE YOU she is going to come back. It could be teething, try giving her a cool washcloth to chew on prior to nursing. That should help her gums if that is a cause.
I will keep giving you advice (and encouragement) as long as you want me to. Without it breastfeeding feels isolating.

I 100% agree with @Ms.SK!!! Generally your lo is going to get MORE calories from breastmilk than anything else (only bananas, sweet potatoes, & avocado have more calories than bm).

It is a rarity that a baby would self wean before 1 on their own naturally by design... it's through our introduction & upping of other outside sources that we deal with early self weaning (just thinking if a baby had no other food I doubt they'd starve themselves. lol). Until the age of 1 though it's important that bm always takes precedence over solid foods.. even if you're wanting to boost calories they would be "on top of" nursing calories, not "in place of".

P has always been low on the growth charts (WHO also) but she's followed her growth curve...Because of her small size though it was REALLY important to me that she DIDN'T drop nursing sessions (we actually lost our pedi over this) P has also always fallen within the normal range for gain per week for bf babies (you can check it for reassurance for yourself)

I would take the suggestions @Ms.SK gave to try & get your lo back to the breast better... it sounds very well like it's just a strike or being too full for milk. =)
