@Ra: And PS, I think your message does not make you sound like "that" mom. You aren't bashing the process. You are open and asking for clarification on why it was done and how you can come together to find an alternative solution that will meet your needs. Also, you should never have to justify your wishes (first time mom or not, if you are worried about your child thats valid). Also, even though I talk to other parents, I try not to bring that into messages or conversations with the director.

I like being able to ask the teachers how is day was and if anything happened/occurred today. At our daycare, they stop filling out the daily sheet once they turn 1, and even before then, it's sometimes hit and miss with them populating it.

This is how it works at my son's preschool, but we can ask quick questions of the teacher, too. I find that going just a few minutes later (but not late enough to make me "late") means there are only a few kids left and it's not a big deal then if we chat or go in the room (sometimes my son drags me in anyway to see a project/toy/whatever.)
