I was born in January, so I ALWAYS had birthday parties during Martin Luther King weekend--Saturday or Monday.
I loved having my birthday during the school year. 
LO was born in March so I plan on throwing parties for her in class and having a separate party for just her friends.
I hope our next baby is born during the school year too. Makes party throwing easier imo.

my bday is in november, so my mom always did a lil something for me - packed goodie bags for everyone, cupcakes, cake... 
i wouldn't mind doing something like that for my babies. but i heard schools nowadays are so strict about what you can bring to the school. and i don't want to throw them a big party every year (maybe every 5 years or so)....

Mine was in March, always during spring break. It was great because I'd have a party with friends and often go on vacation too!

@tequiero21: ha! growing up, i LOVED when moms would bring in cupcakes and drinks and snacks for birthdays. But yeah. So many food allergies these days it'd be a pain in the goong deng.

Yes, sadly. LOL Baby Bear's is Sept 1st, so hers will always be around Labor Day, which I actually like.LOL I'll get a day to recuperate after her party!

Mine is in April, and I always liked bringing treats to school. My best friend's was almost always over Thanksgiving break, which she hated. One year when we were in high school, it actually fell on a school day, so her boyfriend and I went a little nuts and conspired with her teachers, and left her a surprise/present in every class. It was really fun.

My birthday was during the school year, as was my younger brother's. My mom would always bring treats like cupcakes or pizza for our classmates on our actual birthday if it fell on a weekday. We'd also have a party with family and some friends, so I think that's similar to what you were thinking of doing.
My older brother's birthday is during the summer, and he did run into the problem of friends being on vacation when he had a party. Then we started going on summer vacations, and we'd be out of town for his birthday. Kinda of sad now that I look back on it and compare.

Yes it was and it was nice but...as I got older I always wanted to be off school that day! My Dad did take me out of school for my drivers test on my 16th birthday, though.
I don't yet know if our daughter will be in school on her birthday. She's due in June but, we do year round schools here so, who knows when the break-out is of that.

Mine is in November, but I never got school parties. My husband's is in July. He hated it being over the summer when he was a kid because everyone was on vacation so his parties were usually small.

My birthday is in June but I always celebrated my half birthday at school which all summer birthday kids did and they still do now in my district.
I will say that as a teacher, birthday parties are my worst nightmare! Can't stand all the drama that comes when someone doesn't get invited and finds out about the party then expects me to do something about it like I can force parents to invite everyone or something. And the cupcakes, oh the cupcakes. Nothing like 2 inches of pure sugar piled on top of cake and it's always an obnoxious color like green which stains lips, fingers, carpets, etc.

My birthday is in the beginning of the school year (early September). I still get excited because as a teacher of 4-5 year olds, birthdays are still so much fun!!

@eeh: haha! I laughed about the kid parties! I teach preschool so there's not too much drama yet. We have the cupcakes the parents bring at the VERY end of the day, so the kids go home with the sugar high.

Mine's in May so yup. But at my schools we never did birthday parties at school. I thought it was a relatively new thing??

Mine's in March (before Spring Break) and I didn't care either way, really. I never invited the whole class to my parties (I still remember one girl who did that-- she was, and still is, one of the nicest people I know!), so it didn't really impact my celebrations And my mom never brought any treats into class because we were poor... lol.
Hubs was born on the 4th of July and he didn't care about it being in the summer, because it was usually a huge party with a BBQ and fireworks. And then he didn't have to worry about kids he didn't like at his party

Yes, my birthday is in May. My LO's birthday is in December so planning parties might be a bit tricky.

I have a summer birthday, so I never got to celebrate at school. I did get to celebrate at summer camp though, and my mom would always throw me a birthday party either at the very end or very beginning of the school year for all of my school friends.

Nope, Mine is in August. And the wors part was my mom always got me clothes for my bday but I wasn't allowed to wear it until school started!
