I have an extremely picky child when it comes to clothes/shoes/boots. While I know she has some sensitives to fabrics or the feel of things (she doesn't like feeling a seam on the back of a dress when she sits down), sometimes I look at her and shake my head when she says she doesn't like something.
Do you have a picky child about clothes/shoes?

My DD is a total diva about clothes. But it's more about color and style than feel. Basically, it needs to be pink and a dress or have at least some pink. And shoes. Nearly all of her shoes are pink.

She insists on wearing a dress everyday. And if I don't put one on her she throws a little fit and then forgets about it.

Yes, but I think it's more about how they look- most of his clothes are very comfortable. He just gets it in his head that he doesn't like certain things. I'll be squeezing him into a pair of shorts and he yells "These pants too big!!" I think he just likes to have an opinion. He was thrilled today because it was cool this morning and he got to wear his train sweatshirt.

@lamariniere: @anonysquire: This! My daughter insists on dresses, but my goodness, we live in northern Minnesota! It gets frickin' cold here in the winters. So, I might have to pull out the 'your teacher said you can't wear dresses' line and see if she buys it. Well, at least for a week or two

No thank goodness. Except for shoes. Once he gets it in his head that he likes a pair of shoes and they are comfy, it's hard to convince him to wear a different pair.

Yes, and it is inconsistent, so I just have to provide a ton of options and hope for the best each morning. Some days she will insist that she only wants to wear a very specific outfit (usually one that is already in the laundry basket, of course), some days she will want a dress, some days she will want a certain color, etc. She does the same thing with her PJs at night. Usually we figure something out but I'm nervous with fall coming up because she has been really vocal about not liking the "feel" of any of her pants recently. Of course I just bought a bunch of pricier than usual stuff from stores like HA, trying for better quality stuff that will last longer now that she's in bigger sizes and growing more slowly, and I think she hates the fabric they use. Ugh.

Not now, and I hope never! I am sooo particular about clothes, it will be very hard to watch her pick our her own stuff!

Kind of. Jeans are a no go, as are button down shirts and anything that has an applique on the front (the insides tend to have that weird backing that is scratchy).

@NorthStar: oh ya, I didn't even think about winter haha. I usually say something like "we need to wear pants because we might go to the park". And it doesn't work but it atleast calms her down enough that I can hold her down and yank some pants on. I'm fine with dresses but I also buy cute clothes that are not dresses that I want her to wear haha!

@anonysquire: Totally agree! We have a ton of really nice hand me down clothes from awesome stores. There are so many of them that she won't even wear because they aren't dresses. She definitely won't wear jeans because they hurt her belly, which I can understand. I'm slowly getting her to put on leggings.

@NorthStar: what about overalls? Leggings sound so cold in the winter! Atleast from what I'm imagining about the Minnesota cold. Kids are so funny!

@anonysquire: oh gosh, no, there is no way she would wear those. We have really warm snowpants that she can wear We will figure something out this year since this is the first year of preschool, so she won't really have a choice. I already took out the summer dresses from her closet so that she can't ask to wear them. lol

Yes, so picky, and mostly about feel. I've taken to online ordering everything, making her try it all on, and if she complains at all about it, we just take it back. She hated the buttons on a polo my MIL bought her, decided the label on the footbed of a pair of boots was "itchy", and is really picky about pants that are not leggings. Luckily most cotton dresses are fine!

She likes dresses and soft pants (leggings), so I don't really fight it, unless it's days like today where it's soccer day and you just can't wear a dress and play soccer.

Yes, but thankfully she's also easily distracted, so I can usually fend off a clothing melt down if her favorite tutu is dirty. She prefers skirts and dresses that twirl.

one of each.
dd - dresses all day every day. luckily she doesn't fight having to wear sneakers to preschool, but if she could choose, she'd wear mary janes every day. and she wants her hair in a certain style, either in a clip or elsa braid. no ponytails or pigtails, which i love the most 
ds - does not really care at all (2yo). He does always seem to pick muscle tanks over t-shirts but thast it. he doesn't care about color or logos or designs or anything. hoping it stays this way..
