@autumnlove: DS is almost 20 months and sits on the potty every night while the bath is running (i think hearing the running water helped) and we read him a book. Have been doing it since he was 18/19months old. Only in the last 2 weeks has he been doing a wee every time. It took him a while to grasp the concept but now he wees the second he sits on there. Time to get potty training I think but with a newborn due anyday this is all I can manage!

Yep, Xander (26 months) is familiar with the potty and will occasionally ask to sit on it, but for the most part, ignores it.

My son is 20 months and says "potty" and loves to flush it. He only peed in the plastic potty once (I think it was random luck). He asks to go "pee pee" but once we get him there, he really isn't interested. It is way too early for him....but I might try sitting him down before the bath!

He knows what it is for and what it is, but he isn't interested in using it. He has occasionally sat on it and tried to "push" out pee like he's pooping (to no avail, LOL)

My 17 mo old has to go potty every time someone else does. She sits on the potty and goes "pee pee pee pee", but hasn't actually gone yet.

LO is 18.5 months and we introduced a potty for exploring a week ago. She definitely knows what it is and says "potty" and "pee pee" when she sits on it but she has not peed in it yet. She knows what the big potty is too as well as when I "pee pee" or the dog "pee pees" in the yard.
My mom took out a rice cooker recently and S said, "Potty!" Haha! It does look like a potty

DS is 22 months and knows where DH and I go to go potty, but he doesn't associate it himself at all. He always wants to flush the toilet for us and throw away toilet paper into the toilet though. Thankfully, he doesn't do either when no one is in the bathroom.

Yes, my DD is 17 months old and every time she has to go #2, she says "poopy! Go potty!" and runs to the potty and sits on it for about 20 seconds. Then she gets up, refuses to take her diaper off, walks around for a couple minutes and proceeds to poop in her diaper. She definitely knows you go poop in the potty, just isn't ready to do it yet.

LO loves to sit on the potty and do absolutely nothing. She pretends to poop and pee but it's almost always empty at the end.

before our DD was trained, she knew about the potty because she would see us using it. She use to pretend to poop and pee in it LOL Her favorite thing to say is "I'm done!"
