After almost 29 months (LO is 20 months, with 9 months preggers), AF has finally returned today. We haven't fully weaned yet, (down to 3 sessions a day) so I'm really surprised that it showed up now. Of course we are also traveling, so I don't have any pads or tampons with me since I stopped carry those in my bag so long ago. I was kinda of hoping it would never come back but I guess that's just wishful thinking!

Wow!!!! That's a long time. Mine came back 9m pp with DD1. I was still pumping 3-4x a day and nursing as well. She had just started sporadically sleeping through the night.

@regberadaisy: @Mrs. Pen: wow, I didn't realize that not having it that long was weird. I've been to doctors check ups and they asked if i had my period and when I said no, because of BF, they never mentioned anything after that. Now I'm interested if others have had long cycles of no periods either.

@HTownMom: My sister was EBF and coslept with her kids and hers was only a year for both her kids. I don't know many people who go that long.
I know of two people who did go to 2.5 years because they also coslept with their kids (they call it ecological breastfeeding) and used it as birth control.

I am at almost 13 months and it hasn't arrived yet but E still nurses about every 3 hours when awake and at least once over night. I am half hoping to get pregnant again before I have to see AF. Now to go knock on wood.

@Mrs. Pen: that makes sense, we coslept with our LO until about a month ago! So maybe my body is finally just catching up!
@MrsRcCar: yup we nursed pretty often until about 18 months when I tried to get it down to 3x a day! She isn't the best regular food eater so I was hoping that less milk would help, and it kind of has but she still is a typical picky toddler! That's why I'm so hesitant to just stop because I feel like she still gets fat and goodness from the breastmilk!

@HTownMom: E has feeding challenges so breast milk is the one way I know he is getting enough calorie wise. I have a ton stored in the freezer he would be fine if I weaned him now. I just don't really want to.

AF came back both times at 4 months PP despite EBF around the clock. Sigh.

Mine came back 11 months post partum. I was feeding twice a day at that time. Stopped at 17 months old.

@HTownMom: I went to 2 years--same circumstances (BF, cosleeping). I think (and understand from my OB) that it's unusual, but not a sign of a problem.

M is almoat a year and I haven't seen it. But I have a mirena, which also contributes to it. Don't miss it at all!

wow, 29 months! i weaned at 12 months and my period came back about 5 months later. so about 17 months, and i thought that was long!

@HTownMom: I am in the same boat- mine just came back this week and c is 19 months old. I did not miss it at all! But I was sort of curious when it would come back.
C dropped down to nursing once a day almost two weeks ago, and now here she is. I don't know anyone else who went this long.
My sister didn't get hers until she fully weaned her son at 13 months. I think my family just doesn't get our periods while bfing.

Mine came back at 11 months pp and we were down to nursing/pumping 2-3 times a day. I got pregnant after that one AF, so I've had only one in over 2 years at this point.

@HTownMom: that's actually normal not to have your AF return if you are BFing. It is the hormones from BFing that keep it at bay. I am a huge supporter of nursing until 2! Huge benefits for LO's immune system.

Wow! That is super long. Mine came back around 7 months pp and I was still ebf with at least 2 night feeds.

@lilteacherbee: wow that's amazing after only one period you got pregnant again! We would like to have another kid but I have about 80 lbs to lose before that happens!

13 months PP for me. I've read that the average is 14 months PP when EBF.

8 months to the day, and I was co-sleeping and still nursing multiple times a night (at least three, mostly more).
I swear I brought it on myself! I was worrying that very morning about whether I would get it back in time to have a second with a two year spacing, and that afternoon, BAM!
