Any recs for hotels in Rome and Florence?

DH and I stayed at the Hotel Albergo Del Senato when we were in Rome -- loved it! It's literally a stones throw away from the Pantheon, which we loved because it was such a central location and we could find our way back easily
Haven't stayed in Florence, though...
I want to go back so badly!

What is your budget or style of hotel you like? Fancy or Save Some Money? My husband and I went to Italy and France for a month last summer on our Honeymoon and stayed at some amazing places. Hoping to take our soon to be little bean one day.
We stayed at a couple places... I'm asking cuz I work for a really awesome Travel Biz that supports small B&B's and Hotels https://www.facebook.com/NotAnotherTourist

@MamaMagpie: thx! Will check out!
@BronxvilleBump: we'd rather spend some money and have a good stay than save money and be miserable! Amazing sounds good!

Well if you don't mind spending good money in Italy... I would HIGHLY suggest staying here. It is in the PERFECT neighborhood, right by all the shopping and cafes and right down the street from the Spanish Steps. It is EXTREMELY nice and modern, we stayed for only 3 days because it was a bit pricey in the summer and then stayed at a more affordable smaller hotel on the other side of rome for the rest of the time.
Babuino 181 is the place! It's one of the most modern and artistic boutique hotels I have ever stayed in. The nicest for sure! http://www.romeluxurysuites.com/babuino/default-en.html
The other hotel we stayed in that is super affordable, laid back and has a really nice down to earth local feel is here... (not as nice art Babuino but it worked out fine for us). There are more small neighborhood spots that the locals eat at near by. The hotel is named Auditorium di Mecenate. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187791-d665611-Reviews-Auditorium_di_Mecenate-Rome_Lazio.html
Hope this helps!

@tequiero21: would you be open to a apartment rental? We rented a lovely one bedroom apartment that had wifi and a kitchen through VRBO. It was near a train/bus station and wonderful cafes and restaurants and walking distance to the Vatican. It had a tiny little terrace that you could see the dome of the Vatican.
ETA: as a added bonus the landlord was a Vatican tour guide so we got the tour for free AND skipped the crazy lines!

@tequiero21: I went to the best restaurant in Florence! It was called Pensavo Peggio and it is near Santa Maria Novella Church. I had a ravioli dish with a truffle cream sauce that was seriously divine!!!! There are a bunch of reviews for it on trip advisor.
Also, for a quick lunch go to il fratellini - http://www.iduefratellini.it/index.asp. It's a little sandwich shop with really good sandwiches. You can also order a glass of wine, and when you are done, you put the glass in a rack by the shop. It's just a little store front with no place to sit, but you sit on the sidewalk and people watch. It is really such a fun place and a total cheap eat!
