@AmeliaBedilia: I once had a long "dental procedure" (no one can see that work has been done). You could have a "dental emergency." Plumbing or other home-related emergency is a good one, too, since how many health-related issues can one person have, right?! (Well, tons if you are doing IVF!!) Wishing you so much luck!!
@NorthStar: Getting so close!!! Glad your lining is all good now!
@endymion4: So, so sorry to hear about the biospy runaround and how that effects the schedule of everything. I'm so mad and sad for you about that. Were you able to work out a plan with your RE? I think I would probably just go for the FET and then either be pregnant this summer or take the summer off like you planned. Just my two cents.

I'm triggering tonight and 99% sure I don't take the antagonist the night of trigger. Please confirm- I'm just nervous I'll mess something up.

@AmeliaBedilia: YAY trigger time! My favorite, cause it means a shot free day the next day haha. I did not take antagonist the day of trigger.

@AmeliaBedilia: glad you got to trigger!! Not sure about the antagonist, sorry!
nectarine / 2192 posts
Thanks, I called and they said no antagonist. Ivf makes me worry and second guess everything, and makes me much more forgetful.

another appointment update. 8 were measurable, but only 4 were mature. there were probably 4 or 5 on the cusp of being mature, so back to my Re tomorrow. Getting up at 4am to get there by 7:30 is really getting old. I'm SO tired! But, looks like we will likely trigger tomorrow for a Saturday retrieval. At least that is my hope.
oh, and since I am only out of menopur for my morning dosage, she gave me a sample and I didn't need to go to the pharmacy! I have enough follistim for tonight and ganirelex for the morning. whew!

@NorthStar: big hugs! That's such a drive. You probably mentioned this before, but is it for insurance, or do you live in a small town and that's the closest RE? Sending prayers for mature eggs for both of us!
pear / 1881 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: There isn't an RE in our town, so I have to drive to one. There is another RE that does do some monitoring here (but is based out of a suburb of Minneapolis - same town my RE is in), but his rates are not that great and I haven't heard very good things. So, I'm willing to do the drive to give myself the best chance.
Me too! How are you feeling? It seems like in the evenings, I can really tell that I'm getting uncomfortable. Last night on the couch, I could actually feel my ovaries twinging!
nectarine / 2192 posts
@NorthStar: FIL lives in Minneapolis so we're in the city sometimes. Great shopping! There is one established RE in town and a brand new one, but from everything I heard, mine is the best in the area. We only had six mature eggs last time, and this time he is predicting 8-10. We also did the growth hormone so I'm hoping we get 5-6 embryos, which would allow us to feel confident we'll get two kids and give me a chance to carry before going to a gestational surrogate.
I'm feeling tired but otherwise fine physically. I don't feel much ovary-wise, but my doc has been positive, so I'm not letting that worry me. I'm having tons of CM.

@AmeliaBedilia: nice! yeah, we like it when we visit. What state are you in again?
yeah, i would trust your doctor and it seems like you should have some good ones in there!

Dropping in to say I'm still lurking and following all the cycles going on now!!
Also, food for thought...all those times when you think "if I transfer 1,2,3 embryo's, that's how many I could end up with"....don't forget to think about the possibility of splitting. Though the chances are small. It CAN happen....we found that out today!
We transferred 2 expanded blasts on a fresh cycle, one hatching unassisted and another that was about to hatch. We found out today that we have baby A in its own sac and B&C sharing a sac. While this news is shocking and would be a big "pill to swallow" we also know that B & C are about 3 weeks behind A and most likely won't make it (vanishing twin/s).
So yes, it's a small possibility but definitely keep it in mind!! Never imagined we could be having 3!

@AmeliaBedilia: I know, right? how cool would that be? I've connected with one girl that got pregnant via IVF during my first round and we have plans to eventually meet once we have our babies.
@waiting4you: OMG! Congrats, but I'm also SO sorry that it sounds like you will lose one or two What is the next step for you?
apricot / 344 posts
@NorthStar: next step is to just wait and see what happens. Part of me wants to hold out hope that all will work out, or that there's some wiggle room in the accuracy of the crappy ultrasound at my RE's but the doctor was about 90-95% sure we'd lose B&C.

Might be going one more day. Won't know for sure until my e2 results. They gave me more samples just in case I need them for tonight and tomorrow!

Only 5. He had estimated 8-10 mature eggs. I'm devastated. He said the flushed the right side repeatedly and didn't get any eggs. Last time we got 8 on left, 3 on right, 6 mature and 5 fertilized, 2 transferred day 3, nothing to freeze. We added an extra 75 of menopur, plus HGH 2.9mg for 4 days before stims and all through trigger ($2400 extra). RE said he was baffled, all the indicators were good, and can only come up with the low AMH as a reason. He said from the follicles where they didn't get eggs, that the granulosa cells were degenerative and didn't look good. He said the 5 eggs we got looked good, and he was guessing that they are all mature. He thinks we should still get at least 2 embryos. I asked about whether another stim cycle would be good or not, and he said we'd need to see how the next few days go. I'm praying so hard that the HGH really helps these 5 and we could still get a good number of embryos, but I'm trying to prepare for the worst.

@AmeliaBedilia: I'm really sorry to hear this news, but so hoping for you that those eggs fertilize great and they grow, grow, grow!!! I'll keep you in my thoughts!
pear / 1881 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: oh no - so not what I wanted to hear and I'm so sorry! I will be praying super hard from here that the 5 that they did get are of great quality and make it far. I'll be thinking of you..when is your next update?
Also, an update for me. My estrogen level was 1,400 yesterday, so not sure if that is good or bad (as in too high)? I thought that it was about 200 per mature follicle, so that seems rougly in line with what we saw this morning.
nectarine / 2192 posts
@NorthStar: tomorrow I hear how many are mature and fertilized.

Just got the call. triggering tonight with an 8:30 Saturday morning retrieval. eek!

@AmeliaBedilia: so sorry it wasn't more. Keeping fingers crossed these are super strong little embies and they stay happy and healthy till transfer!

@AmeliaBedilia: I'm sorry you didn't get the number you were expecting. I know all too well the disappointment. There's still hope with 5 though! FX for a great fert report today!!

@NorthStar: Hope all went well with the trigger last night! So exciting!!
@AmeliaBedilia: Thinking of you this morning and hoping to hear a great fertilization report this morning.
@PurplePumps: How is everything with you these days? Has your transfer been scheduled?

@NorthStar: excited for you for tomorrow morning!

@endymion4: @GreenThumb: Thank you! The trigger went well, so now we just wait for tomorrow. We have to go down tonight since we need to be there by 7:30am. Luckily, Dh's parents are available and can come this afternoon to watch DD while we leave.
I realized that if we do a 5 day transfer, it will be on St. Patty's day! That has to be lucky, right?!
nectarine / 2192 posts
Terrible results. 3 mature, 2 M1s which matured overnight in the lab. Of the three, one fertilized normally. They will ICSI the M1s today. I don't understand how they can go from 8-12 good looking follicles to this. Devastated.

@AmeliaBedilia: what the heck..i'm so sorry, hun. I don't even know what to say. I assume you won't get another call for a few days? Sending strength that you get at least one that continues to grow through the weekend.
pear / 1986 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: Oh my goodness, I am really sorry! Any chance you would switch to a fresh transfer if you are feeling up for it? I'm wondering it that might give you a better chance than a freeze... Also sending you lots of hope and strength. And hugs!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: I'm so sorry. I know there are no words that can take this sting and pain away. I wish you strength to get thought this devastating news and good vibes for your embryos. *hugs*
