@momazon: Well *I* am getting excited for you. (Yep, still lurking!) Squee!

I am waiting to talk to a nurse for my trigger and retrieval instructions! He looked this morning and said "oh yeah you're ready!" I have three in the 19-20mm range and one that he said could catch up in time for Friday. So def 3, maybe 4! I'm excited since we went from "this isn't working" to "2-3" and now "3-4".
I know sometimes there are more hiding, but is that when there are lots on the scans? Or could there still be 1-2 hiding behind ones they can see? I'm probably being too greedy now

If we have 4 I think we'll definitely test them now rather than bank.

@momazon yahoo!!!! so happy for you. that line looks pretty obvious to me and at 5d post that's amazing!!

@SweetiePie great news for you too. so Friday is trigger and then Sunday retrieval? So excited you are moving along!

My RE just called this morning to confirm how many embryos for my transfer next week. It's happening! And we signed a lease on a house in CA today! It feels so good to have that taken care of so I can start finding daycare, etc. Starting to get excited for this move, and the FET of course. Life is insane.

@Mrs. Pajamas: triggering tonight for Friday retrieval congrats on the signed lease! So nice when things start to come together.

Thanks for the congrats, everyone! I know I'm out of the loop of this thread, since I'm mainly a lurker now, but I'm always cheering you all on!

@NorthStar: we just transferred one to give ourselves the highest number of FET transfers (we had three embryos frozen).

@momazon: That line is very similar to what I had at 6 days, so it looks like a great line for you! When is your beta? Definitely keep us updated? I'm totally a lurker too since I'm pregnant, but try to pop in every now and then to support you ladies

@Winnie13: Good luck today! Drink lots of POM juice and 1/2 of an avocoado per day in the next few days. I've also heard that McD's fries are good for getting little beans to stick. lol. Apparently, it's this new thing for embryo transfers.

@Winnie13 thinking of you today and already excited for your beta!

I had my lining check today which was great and just waiting for my P4 results to have the official go ahead!

@momazon how are you feeling? Any symptoms yet? When's your beta?

@SweetiePie: Wahoo! Good luck!! Remember, it's not always about quantity. It's most definitely quality over quantity and slow and stead is great.

  15. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@NorthStar: thanks For me, I actually do need quantity because my quality is so shit, haha. I have a balanced translocation so my odds are like 15% for a good egg. BUT this is a start! And maybe only having 3-4 is a good thing because the good ones are the ones that grew Wishful thinking! I'm fully prepared to have no normal embryos and I'm just excited to get the cycle over with and start a new one with a better protocol so we DO get a better sample size next time.
    How are you doing, btw?

  16. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@SweetiePie: oh crap! That's right! I'm sorry! ugh - I have a hard time keeping track of everyone!

If you do have to do another cycle, I would definitely have them revisit a new protocol with minimal suppression. I don't remember how you started your cycle, but when they changed up my second stim cycle, my results were SO much better. But, let's go on this train of thought that you get at least one good embaby in this cycle!

I am doing good! I am 19 weeks today and plugging along. I still have a ton of anxiety, though, and hope that will start to get better soon.

  17. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@NorthStar: It's totally ok! I try so hard to keep track of everyone's history and timelines but it's easy to forget. Actually, back when I did my first go round at this 3 years ago we used to have a weekly IF check in thread. So this was still here for broader discussion but the weekly check in was a basic update - where you are in your cycle, important dates, test results. Anyway I found it was very helpful to have a new thread every week dedicated to status! Maybe I will start that again if people are interested?

My protocol started with 300 gonal-f in the AM and 2 menopur in the PM. But the gonal-f hurt rather than helped. So they switched me on day 7 of stims to 4 menopur in AM and 3 in PM. Which is when I started responding. So I can only imagine if I was on that protocol the whole time I might have 5+ follies. So I'm very eager to see what happens next time!

So exciting you're almost at the halfway mark!
The anxiety doesn't go away entirely after we go through what we go through. But it does get easier and easier as you get closer and closer.

  18. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@SweetiePie: Were you on any sort of lupron or other suppression (BCP) prior to starting gonal-F or menopur? If so, those would be things that I would remove, if possible.

I totally remember those weekly check-ins! They were super helpful

@PurplePumps: Thank you so much! I'm thinking and praying for your transfer tomorrow! @SweetiePie: Thank you!! So excited for your retrieval tomorrow!!
@Mrs. Pajamas: I'm excited too! 😉 Hoping all your blood work comes back great!!

Everything went well today! We transferred 2 little embies today! Thinking positive and praying that God blesses them! My first Beta is in 12 days, but I'll take a HPT next Sat! My RE said to take it easy for the next 2-3 days, but I'm going into work tomorrow and my DH is a little freaked! I told him I will take it easy for sure and not over do it! Today I'm going to rest and watch lots of Netflix! ❤

  20. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@Winnie13: Congrats on a smooth transfer and as long as you take it easy today, you should be fine. I only took the day off of my transfer all three times and was fine. If it's going to work, I don't think moving around a bit is going to make a difference. Lots of positive sticky thoughts to you!

  21. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@NorthStar: Oh yeah forgot that part. I was on bcp for 21 days prior.
I'm very confident that my RE will remove any suppression for the next cycle, considering the results this time. But it's def something I'm adding to my list of questions just in case!
Oh, it also just occurred to me...I was also on bcp on my own for like 2 years leading up to this cycle. Of course they know this but I wonder if that had anything to do with it?

  22. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@Winnie13: congrats on a smooth transfer and I will definitely lift you up in prayer!

  23. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@SweetiePie: I would definitely ask about the BCP that you were on prior. They might have you do something so that they can line up your cycle (I had to do BCP my second round), but maybe they can do a lower dose or something. But, you know what, let's keep away from that for now and just focus on those awesome eggs that you are currently growing!

  24. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@NorthStar: yeah I was on my own bcp, skipped 3 weeks, then on their bcp. I'll definitely ask his opinion just because I'm curious!

Question for you ladies who have had your frozen embies transferred before...

Today we went in to our 12 week (and final US) with our RE. They let us know they are expanding their practice, hiring a 2nd RE, and even their own embryologists. They currently work with a 3rd party IVF center. So essentially, for any babies after this one, we will likely do everything through our RE's new center, not the IVF place currently housing our embies.

They seemed to think there wouldn't be any kind of a transfer charge, but weren't 100% sure yet. Does anyone know if your RE leaves the place where your embies are stored, do you incur the transfer fees, or does the RE/IVF center? Just trying to plan financially.

    Thx!

ps - Everything looked great on the US and we officially "graduated" from our RE to the regular OB.

@PointeShoesTutus: I am so sorry to see that was the result! I can't imagine how I would feel after that.
@momazon: how wonderful to see a positive on this thread! congrats!
@Winnie13: congrats on a smooth transfer! sending lots of good, sticky thoughts your way! rest & relax all today!
@SweetiePie: you have your retrieval tomorrow, right? I'll be thinking of you!

we're scheduled for our transfer on October 7th - for people who have already done an FET - does the date typically stay the same or is it fluid like the date of the retrieval and this is mostly an estimate? They seem pretty confident in the timing, but they were that way with the retrieval as well and it completely changed. Can't believe we are almost at this point. I am trying so hard not to get too excited since I know that going through this doesn't guarantee a positive by any means, but feeling really hopeful that this will be our time!

@yellowbeach huge congrats on graduating from the RE and reaching the 12 week mark. So excited for you and your babe! I remember when you joined this thread and that was seriously yesterday!

@misskabers for my clinic the transfer date is totally set in stone since they have to line up the embryologist's and lab time well in advance to thaw the embryo, check it out and get it ready for you. Oct 7th is so so soon that is great news!

  28. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@yellowbeach: My RE was with one practice and decided to leave (but they were a full-fledged practice with 3-4 docs, embryologists, etc). He is now with another large practice. Since I wanted to stay with him for this go-round, and I had one frozen embryo that was pgd "inconclusive" that we wanted to test again, they did transfer that embryo to the new practice. Now, it was free of charge to ME. I'm unsure if the old practice did charge something and my RE/new practice ate that fee for me since it wasn't necessarily my choice. They might have figured that since I'd be with them for future cycles it would pay off.

I would think that the two practices in question are working together or have some agreement in place to ensure that previous patients don't have to pay a fee since it's not your "choice", per se.

@MissKabers: Ours was pretty set as well. I think that it would only change if you are not responding well enough to the estrogren/meds and if your lining is not thick enough. But in most instances, I think that it stays pretty much on schedule. I found my FETs to be SO much less stressful! That's probably why they tend to be so successful for women.

  30. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@MissKabers: agree with @Mrs. Pajamas: that typically once they give you that frozen transfer date it's set. I guess the only thing that could happen is it gets canceled because of something like a lining check? But that wouldnt be a day of, last minute thing. This hasn't happened to me, just thinking out loud.

ETA: jinx @northstar: we posted same time and said essentially the same thing. Haha.

@yellowbeach: Yay! It must feel so amazing to graduate to an OB - congrats!!

@Mrs. Pajamas: @NorthStar: @SweetiePie: thanks, ladies! it sounds like (as long as the tests come back a "go") we are set for October 7th - that feels so great to know it doesn't shift. I agree that this cycle feels a lot less stressful - and due to our results with PGS, I am so glad that we ended up going with an FET since it gave us that opportunity.

  32. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@MissKabers: Have you heard about drinking POM juice before and after? I cannot remember who I have or haven't told that to. I would suggest that along with eating avocados and nuts (like walnut or brazil nuts).

  33. MissKabers

    olive / 51 posts

@NorthStar: I haven't - thank you! that was going to be my next question - tips for things we can do to help get this little embie to nestle in there.

If there are any others - we'd love to hear them!!

  34. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

    @MissKabers: Yeah, I would recommend:
*8oz of POM juice/day for maybe 5 days before and after transfer. I know that it doesn't taste the greatest, but has wonderful antioxidant properties and helps with lining.
*1/2 avocado per day for about the same number of days before and after transfer.
*Brazil nuts before and after transfer
*A new FET thing that ladies are doing is getting McD's fries right after transfer. LOL I can't say if it has any impact, but what the hell? why not. I did it and am 19 weeks pregnant. Not likely due to that, but again, it can't hurt.
*Limiting sugar and gluten before and after transfer to limit any bloating
    *Lots of water and rest!

These were some of the things that I did for my successful FET. Take it or leave it, but I feel like these worked for me. Good luck!

@SweetiePie I was WAY crampy after my last retrieval. It was pretty painful but I was feeling better later in the day. so just hang out on the couch and enjoy some wine for the next month until your FET!
