January POAS: 6+ Months

@doxielove: For what it's worth, I spotted for a day before I found out about my last pregnancy for about 24 hours and then it completely stopped. I was devastated that my luteal phase was shortening after having just gotten it a bit longer the month before and then a BFP appeared. It was unusual for me to spot at all so I suspected something was going on. Good luck!!!!!!

Fucking negative. Don't know why I even bothered to test.

@doxielove: I'm so sorry girl! It's a crappy feeling for sure! All this crazy medicine messes with our bodies for sure!! How many DPO are you?

@doxielove: Frick I'm so sorry also wondering what DPO you are? Could it just be early still?

@doxielove: So sorry to hear. Hugs!

Good check today. 11 follicles, mostly 18-19mm. He called my lining fantastic and said great overall. We are waiting on labs, but should trigger tonight with egg retrieval Thursday. Please send lots of prayers!

Yes, it's early, in theory, to get a BFP. I'm 12dpo. However, the longest my LP has ever been was 11 days (when I first started TTC). Usually it's closer to 9-10 days. I guess I naively assumed since my LP is so short, that I'd get a positive by now? I still haven't gotten a true AF yet (I had a bit more dark brown spotting today).

I'm going to skip taking the letrozole until I get an actual flowing period. So, that may be next month, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Maybe I'll test again this weekend. I HATE negative tests. They make me so angry.

@AmeliaBedilia: Sending you so many prayers!! Good luck on Thursday!!!

    @AmeliaBedilia: Prayers for sure girl!!!

@Doxielove: I'm sorry your cycle is being so different this go around. It's a good thing that your LP is a bit longer though. Right? Keep us posted!!!

@AmeliaBedilia: many prayers your way! I hope this is it!
@doxielove: still holding it hope for you.

I got my CD3 blood test results back and they seem awful to me from my googling. FSH is 13 and TSH is 3.75. So seems borderline hypothyroidism and bad eggs. Last week my progesterone levels were bad too. I don't even know what to think anymore. I'm ready to call it quits. I'm lucky for what I have.

@delight: hugs! Thyroid is easily treated. Read "it starts with the egg" about things that can improve egg quality. I'm on melatonin, DHEA, coQ10, and vitamin D to improve egg quality.

  11. delight

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@AmeliaBedilia: thanks I will read it. I have heard about the coQ10 before.
At least now I can blame my fatigue , hair loss and weight gain on my thyroid. I'm just so tired of getting bad results. I also feel like I wish I had known all this before so I wouldn't have had to go through losses.

@AmeliaBedilia: lots and lots of prayers your way!!!

@doxielove: that sounds odd... All my fingers and toes are crossed that its a BFP in a few days!

@delight: I am so sorry, friend. When is your next appt with the re?

    How is everyone else doing?

  13. delight

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@Crystal: thanks. I have my hysteroscopy Wednesday and then DH and I go in to discuss all the results mid February. I guess I really shouldn't TTC in the meantime with my TSH levels. I read they should be <2 for TTC. I can't stop crying.

  14. ms.line

    pear / 1770 posts

@delight: My initial testing with my RE showed my TSH was 3.85. See if they can call you in a script for synthroid right away - there's no reason you should have to wait a month. They'll need to check your TSH again after 2-4 weeks of meds anyway to see how to tweak your dosage.

  15. delight

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@ms.line: that's a good idea. My RE is doing my hysteroscopy next week so I can hopefully discuss my blood test results and get a script. You're right, I shouldn't have to wait another month to get the ball going. It's funny because in the last year I have had a lot of weight gain and hair loss and just thought it was stress. I wish I had done all these tests sooner. May have saved the heartache of my loss in October.

@delight: Hugs!!! My FSH was 12.3 on my first testing but I am trying to stay positive b/c I know it's still possible to get pregnant. All you need is ONE good egg mama!!

Update on me: I had my cd3 blood work and ultrasound this morning. Moving into cycle number 2 with meds and TI. I only had 4 follicles (which is depressing) and they saw a cyst, although they said it wasn't anything to worry about, they took my blood to make sure all was a go and I got the call. I am to start clomid tonight and take it cd3-cd7, then gonal f shot cd7 and cd9 and back in for monitoring on cd10 or 11.

Basically same protocol as last month and we got BFN except we did clomid cd5-cd9 last month. Anybody familiar with the difference? What does taking it earlier make happen? I've read that cd3-cd7 makes more follicles...

Here's hoping for my one golden egg this cycle!!

@delight: I'm sorry girl!! Thyroid is easily treatable though! I would get an RX right away though. The sooner your on meds the sooner you'll feel better! I'm hypothyroid too. My level was around 90 and now it's .68!! Medicine can work wonders!!

@delight: i am sending you the biggest hugs ever. I think that asking about the prescription is a great plan. I really really hope that is an easy fix for you. I know you are meant to have your rainbow baby.

    persimmon / 1388 posts

@delight: It's so easy to get discouraged. I think we all can empathize. Some days I'm so beyond ready to throw in the towel. I'm sorry to hear about the TSH results - it sounds like that's easy enough to get under control with meds?

@Ajsmommy: Different doctors have different CD preferences for clomid. I've "heard" (no cited sources) that if you're Oing on your own, docs tend to prescribe for 5-9.

As for me, I tested again last night. BFN. I think this was just the world's lightest period. Thanks, clomid So, I'm counting today as CD6. I will wait until next cycle to take the letrozole. Bummed that we're waiting this cycle out, but I feel my body needs a month to reset after that nasty clomid!

8 eggs retrieved. I'm disappointed. Otherwise feeling ok.

@AmeliaBedilia: Hugs. All you need is 1 good one, right?? Praying that the 8 retrieved are stellar!! What's the next step in the IVF process?

  23. Crystal

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@doxielove: sorry, friend. I hope that a month off will set your body right for the letrozole next month!

CD1 for me. I had a 13 day LP without any spotting at all, and Od earlier than normal. That's great, normally I spot at day 11 and have a 12 day LP. I was starting to get my hopes up a bit.

Oh well, on to the next! Waiting for my dr office to open so I can make an emergency appt for Clomid.

  24. Winnie13

    kiwi / 501 posts

@AmeliaBedilia: All you need is one strong egg!! How many days are they waiting to implant after fertilization? I'll be praying for a strong, healthy fertilized egg!

@doxielove: I'm sorry girl! Clomid is nasty! Femara is much better and does very minimal to your body. It was good for me mentally and physically to take a break. Hoping this month is a great recharge for you!

@crystal: Such a positive for your LP! That's a celebration in itself! FX for you this month! What dosage of Clomid?

  25. Crystal

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@Winnie13: he started me on 50My day 3-7. I've done 50 once before. He wasn't willing to start me at the 100 that worked last time.

@Ajsmommy: seems like a few of us are waiting on that golden egg! Best wishes this month!!
@Winnie13: thanks! I am hoping to get meds soon. I didn't realize how common hypothyroidism is.
@Crystal: thanks friend. I just can't help thinking that f I had just had testing done a year ago then maybe this would have been all fixed and I wouldn't have had a mc in October. I guess I just have to look forward and hope for the best. I know we will both have our rainbows one day. I'm sorry this want your cycle but it all sounds positive. Good luck this month!
@doxielove: yes hopefully the TSH is an easy fix! I'm sorry that you never got your BFP. I was really hoping for you. I'll
Be siting on the sidelines for this month too (and probable a few more).
@AmeliaBedilia: all fingers crossed for good fertilization. hoping you babe fabulous results. Do you know if you can do a fresh transfer or do you have to wait and see how you're doing? Lots of positive vibes your way, hope to see great updates from you.

Dagger to my heart... my friend at work had a sono today for her new pregnancy and she sent a picture via text to me!!! ughhhh she's 8 weeks....

I feel like such a terrible person bc I can't make myself happy for her. It's her second and she's clearly excited but I can't make myself!

  28. doxielove

    persimmon / 1388 posts

I'm back to bitch about my period

AF came today in FULL FORCE. I'm confused. That would mean my LP increased from an average of 9/10 days to FOURTEEN days...!? Is that even possible? Gaining an extra 4, potentially 5, days? Whaaaaa. Body, you continue to amaze me!
ETA - I'm counting today as CD1 and moving forward with the letrozole/IUI. I just called my doctor's office and left a message about the spotting, too, and to see if that should be a concern, even though my progesterone levels were nice and high.

@Ajsmommy: So sorry. Does this friend know about your TTC struggles?

  29. Ajsmommy

    pomegranate / 3355 posts

@doxielove: she does know but clearly I guess it's something that you don't really get unless it's you?? bc she also came to my desk and played a recording of the heart beat

I had to get up and walk away. Just brutal when that is all you want but can't seem to have it

  30. doxielove

    persimmon / 1388 posts

@Ajsmommy: Oh man! I would not have been able to take hearing the heart beat. Brutal!!

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@Ajsmommy: I would have lost it, I'm so sorry.

@doxielove: how strange!!! And you took a test a day or two ago, right? Ugh, stupid AF.

Sooooo apparently Even though my insurance covered Clomid in May and June, it's now a "restricted drug" and is no longer covered. I have to start taking it tomorrow night, so I can't follow their appeal process to wait for it and have to pay out of pocket. Grrrrr.

  32. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@Crystal: oh no!! Is it very expensive?! It was super cheap for me, but I know every insurance is different

  33. Crystal

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@NorthStar: we can afford it, thankfully, but it just sucks! And it's the lowest dosage, so the cost will double/triple as we move up.

  34. Winnie13

    kiwi / 501 posts

@Crystal: that's a bummer! Have you considered the generic? I was on 100mg and my insurance didn't cover it. We paid 17 total. Not bad at all!!!

  35. Crystal

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@Winnie13: what is the generic called? I'm definitely asking about a generic version next month.

  36. Winnie13

    kiwi / 501 posts

@doxielove: I'm sorry AF was a mystery this month!! Positive to LP. Could you be off on your O day?? Is this your first IUI? That's our next step!! Glad you get to start this month!!

Ajsmommy: I'm sorry girl! It's definitely tough. The thing about struggling TTC, you don't know what it's like unless you've been through it. Some people can be very insensitive though. Regardless of how they approach it... It still hurts! My coworker just got pregnant with her second and she wasn't even trying. She missed a couple days in her BC pack and just like that... Pregnant! I'm so happy for her, but it definitely stings...
I know God will bless us with a baby in His timing, but sometimes you can't help feeling hurt.

  37. Winnie13

@Crystal: My pharmacy doesn't even fill name brands!! The beauty of Walmart!! Lol!! The generic is clomiphene citrate. The same thing for sure!!

  38. AmeliaBedilia

    nectarine / 2192 posts

@Crystal: clomiphene (generic clomid) is $9 at several pharmacies here, so shouldn't be too bad. You can check goodrx.com- highly recommend that site.

Of our 8 eggs, 6 were fully mature, and 5 fertilized and are looking good. RE is confident we will have a transfer of 2. He says 50/50 on whether we will get a 3 vs 5 day transfer. He estimates 50% chance of frozen embryos. He is happy. I was hoping for more, but I'm relieved the fertilization was so good.

  39. Crystal

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@Winnie13: thanks for the info! I'll have to ask for that next time! I agree it's hard to understand what this is like unless you've been through it.

@AmeliaBedilia: thank you! I'll check out that website too. It sounds like your eggs are looking AWESOME! Congrats! Which is more desirable, 3 or 5 day transfer?

  40. delight

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@Ajsmommy: hugs. It's so hard hearing people's good news. My best friend just found out this week she is having a girl and I proceeded to have a major meltdown at book club when she announced (even though she had already told me earlier). . So embarrassing but thankfully everyone understands.
@doxielove: bitch away about AF! An extra few days of LP is great but the spotting is confusing. I feel like you were on CD1 earlier this week!! Good luck with your IUI this month!!
@Ajsmommy: oh ouch the heartbeat had to have stung. People suck.
@crystal: I hope you can get all your meds sores out. So distracting it's not covered anymore. I have been madly researching DH's benefits to see what is covered. I'm way ahead of myself but just trying to figure everything out.
@AmeliaBedilia: I am happy for your update. Sounds like your eggos are fertilizing great! Please keep us updated and if you have a transfer tomorrow I wish you all the best!!

I have my hysteroscopy Wednesday and hopefully will get on thyroid meds then too. I've also been researching acupuncture. I just want to scream though. Why can't this all be easier!?
