@Crystal: 50mg clomiphene citrate would have been about $23 without insurance. My insurance covered a few bucks and I ended up paying $15 I think. And yes, I tested a few days ago after about a 5 hour hold.

@Winnie13: Pretty sure, I guess? I got 1 day of positive opks and tested the next day, and negatives.

Soooooo I spoke with my RE's nurse yesterday about the week of spotting, and she suggested crinone 8%. However, my insurance doesn't cover this and it's expensive! My insurance does cover something called micronized progesterone. Anyone know the difference? I'm going to call the RE on Monday and chat about that, but in the meantime, any advice is appreciated!

@doxielove: My doc prescribed crinone for my IVF cycle. It's about $15/dose in the U.S. I asked if there was a cheaper option that worked as well and I'm now on prometrium 200mg vaginally twice daily plus a progesterone injection. If you have to be on crinone and can wait two weeks, you can order from ivfpharmacy.com for much cheaper.

@crystal last month my Clomid was $65 😢 So I hear you on the costs. I was so pissed but what do you do when your there and need to start that day? Maybe I'll ask for generic next round.
Cheering all of you on! Taking this cycle off due to RE suggestion. I am suppose to have an HSG Tuesday but debating canceling it. (Cost is $1200 and DH just quit his job. If worse case I have a blocked tube we couldn't move on to ivf for a few months anyway). I'm calling Monday to see if we can go where my HSG was in April. It was half the cost.
@ameliabedlia those are great numbers! My two friends who have gotten pregnant off ivf had 3 and 1 fertilize so as we all know, it only takes one!

@delight: I just hate all the insurance games! Good luck Wednesday, I hope it's an easy experience!

@doxielove: I just looked at the polls, and it says clomiphene, and it definitely wasn't $23. Hmmm, I need to call my insurance. Really strange about the spotting... Is crinone a type of P? I hope they have an alternative for you.

@AmeliaBedilia: I'm so glad to see you posting here more- I've missed you! How are the vagunal suppositories?

@LibbyLou: yup, I feel your pain. Doable, but still more than I hoped to spend. I just hate insurance sometimes!

Took my first pill tonight, and I can already feel the headache!

@Crystal: So odd! I just pulled out the Walgreens pamphlet thing they attach to the bag and it states retail is $20.99, insurance saved me $6.60. *shrugs* Wishing you so much luck this round! Here's to hoping you won't have to refill that script/worry about future costs And yes, crinone is a type of P.

@AmeliaBedilia: Thank you so much for the tip!!

@LibbyLou: I'd much rather save that $1200 for IVF, if that's where you're going to end up anyways!

@Crystal: Vaginal suppositories are annoying but minor compared to everything else.

Two looking "great" others are not as far as they should be. Others are behind where they are supposed to be. Odds of freeze are "less than average." Transfer went smoothly. He used the word "thrilled." Estimated 65% chance! Said one of our embryos looked better than all the others of the other patients. If this doesn't work, still has favorable prognosis for another round. If pregnant, 30% chance of twins. So everything went as well as possible except wish the other three were better. Then I did acupuncture. Prayers please!

@doxielove: You're welcome. If you do injectable progesterone, your options are:
    1. See if it's covered by your insurance (likely).
    2. I believe it's cheapest at winfertility. It's only $7 and includes syringes and needles. You have to get at least two prescriptions, but aspirin, estrace, dexamethasone, and Zithromax are all around $1.

Hi ladies! I just wanted to pop in as a cheerleader!
After being away the last couple months from the TTC boards I'm super excited to be able to jump into the Feb. POAS board in the next couple weeks!
Starting my first round of letrozole this week!

@AmeliaBedilia: That's wonderful!!! Praying for you!!

CD15 and still no O. Praying I get a positive OPK sometime in the next couple of days.. If not I probably didn't respond to Femara. It was only 2.5, so I'm not surprised. Hoping there isn't a next round though! We will see!!

@WinterBee: welcome back and best wishes on your next cycle. I'm cheering this round too as I have a HSG in a couple days and want to start some thyroid meds before we give it another shot.

Hi All, just catching up from over the weekend. Love reading all the updates.

wishing you all the best of luck.

    your update sounds great @AmeliaBedilia:

As for me, I have taken the clomid and one gonal f injection last night. One more gonal f injection tomorrow and then a monitoring apt on thurs to see how my follies look!

Do you guys find yourself going from one extreme to the other emotion wise? Like this morning I was feeling very very positive and thinking that one of these eggs im currently growing is def gonna be my golden egg.. but then right now I feel doomed and like we are just going through the motions and spending $$ for no reason b/c it's hopeless..... grrr.... not a fan of rollercoaster emotions

@Ajsmommy: thanks! I totally feel like that. One moment this is it, the next I think we will never be able to have kids. It's so hard!

@Ajsmommy: Yes!! Some days are better than others for sure! Honestly, God is the only thing that has gotten me through the hard days!! I'm sincerely praying for all the ladies in this group!! Hoping you have some great looking follicles!!!

So, I got a POS OPK!! Checking my temps for a rise and BDing until then!

Hey ladies. I have my hysteroscopy and HSG this afternoon. Weirdly enough I ended up ovulating yesterday. Which was CD11 and way early for me. Maybe the progesterone last month threw everything off. I'm worried my cervix is going to be closed tight now which will make the procedure difficult. We were taking this month off TTC so I'm not worried about that but now this will put O in February when I'm in Florida with DD and DH is left at home. There goes more time down the drain.

@Winnie13: good luck and happy BDing!
@Ajsmommy: I think we all go through intense emotions each month. This is hard shit. Pardon my language! I don't know about you but sometimes I feel like I'm being selfish and should just accept the fact that I have a beautiful LO and be happy with my little family. Or I feel like my body is telling me "enough already just be happy and give up!" It certainly is a rollercoaster of emotions.

  18. doxielove

    persimmon / 1388 posts

@Ajsmommy: Oh every day is a roller coaster of emotions! I wonder if this is all going to be worth it in the end...what if we're never able to conceive? It's incredibly frustrating and complicated. Good luck at your monitoring appointment tomorrow

@WinterBee: Welcome! I'm doing my first round of letrozole this cycle! Here's to hoping for some Feb letrozole bfps

So far no side effects on the letrozole. I'm hoping it stays that way. Getting very nervous for my 1st IUI, which will probably be late next week. Not nervous for the actual IUI, but for the outcome. After 3-4 IUI's, we're done. We can't afford IVF. It's a very, very odd feeling coming to the end of the TTC road

@delight: good luck. Hopefully your cervix won't be too tight. Keep us updated.

Last time I checked in o was cancelling my HSG due to costs (1200). Well I claimed self-pay and the cost is now $200. I'm waiting for Doctor now. Hoping for an open tube so I'll have a few more months of trying with Clomid again before ivf.
@doxielove hope this cycle is it! Glad for no side effects.

In other news, my RE office called me back and let me know that they will substitute 200mg micronized progesterone (covered by my insurance) for crinone 8% (not covered by my insurance). Yay for $10 script copay vs. hundreds of dollars!! Small victory.

@LibbyLou: That's awesome about the cost change! Hoping for open tubes!!

@doxielove: yay for saving money! I felt the same way. $$$ 😊 Take every victory we can get

@doxielove: Yay! Is it daily or twice daily? FYI - expect a lot of cervical mucus.

  25. LibbyLou

    kiwi / 739 posts

Well HSG didn't go as planned. Right tube is completely blocked due to ectopic. Right side has triple the follicles too. RE seemed hopeful we could get left side to ovulate but I'm feeling hopeless.

  26. WinterBee

    persimmon / 1071 posts

    @Winnie13: I'm starting with 2.5 too.
@doxielove: Woohoo! That would be amazing!!

  27. doxielove

    persimmon / 1388 posts

@LibbyLou: I thought I responded yesterday but HB must have eaten my response. Anyways, I'm so sorry to hear about the blocked tube. What's the plan going forward?

I picked up my progesterone last night, and it's an oral capsule. 200mg/day, take @ bedtime. I've heard that oral progesterone isn't as effective as suppositories, but for the $$ I'm saving, I'll at least give it a shot and see if it helps with my spotting.

    How is everyone doing?

  28. LibbyLou

    kiwi / 739 posts

@doxielove: worth to give it a shot I think! Hopefully it'll work for you even if suppositories are rumored to be better. We all need a different recipie to get pregnant so maybe this is yours!
Not sure yet the plan, honestly I was fighting back tears so I didn't ask or remember what she even said! Will be calling them tomorrow for more details. Thanks for checking up!

Anyone else left to POAS this month?

  29. AmeliaBedilia

    nectarine / 2192 posts

@doxielove: oral progesterone can be taken vaginally- that's what my doctor has me doing.

  30. Ajsmommy

    pomegranate / 3355 posts

@LibbyLou: sorry to hear about the blockage, can they get it cleared? or do you just focus on the other ovary?? Just remember it only takes ONE egg...

I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about this cycle and am really hoping I don't get my hopes up for nothing!!

I've had two monitoring appts and they had me take a third shot of gonal f last night. Yesterday I had 3 dominant follicles, cd11, all about 12 mm. Today at my apt they are now about 16mm. The dr actually said that I have a good shot of getting pg this cycle. They didn't say that last cycle...... I am waiting to hear what's next, ie when I need to trigger

So does anyone know why they'd say I have a "good chance' this cycle? Is it good to have 3 dominant follicles?? I know I only need one but with 3 large ones does that mean they will all ovulate? Sorry if these are dumb questions..... I'm just not sure what it means

Also estradiol was 350 yesterday.. what does that mean? I have googled it but can't find anything.

  31. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@Ajsmommy: IVF lurker here Are you doing a trigger shot? If so, then yes, all 3 will ovulate. In the IVF world, for every 200 of estradiol = 1 mature follicle. So, considering you are not quite there yet, you might have 2-3 mature follicles and your estradiol levels are following that trend. Does that help any? Keep in mind that your estradiol will continue to go up until you ovulate. Good luck!!

  32. Ajsmommy

    pomegranate / 3355 posts

@NorthStar: yessss... share all the knowledge!! LOL

Yes, I will do a trigger shot, ovidrel.

So as for the estradiol... with it being 350 yesterday that means I had 1 mature follicle? but the estradiol will go up as these 3 eggs continue to grow? It should get up to 600 if I have 3 mature follicles then right?

I'm hoping they have me trigger Tomorrow or sunday.

Any idea why the dr would say I had a "good" chance to conceive this time vs any other time? is it bc i could potentially have 3 eggs floating around in there waiting to be fertilized??

  33. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@Ajsmommy: yeah, I would think that your estradiol would continue to increase and hopefully get close to 600. Not sure about your 'good chance'. maybe because you have three follicles this time? realistically, I don't know how he can say that, but did he give you a percentage chance? Are you doing IUI or TI? either way, good luck!

  34. Ajsmommy

    pomegranate / 3355 posts

@NorthStar: I thought it was very odd for the stmt about "good chance" to be said too.. like nothing like getting a crazy woman all riled up and hopeful. LOL Didn't give any % or anything, just said things are looking really good and this might be it and mentioned how I could be lumped in with all the other "blizzard" babies (we're in the heart of this big storm coming this weekend)....... I'm thinking maybe dr should have just zipped it.

    We are doing TI.

Thank you so much for your responses, I really appreciate it.

@Ajsmommy: this whole thing is totally a roller coaster. It's amazing how fast I can go from "THIS is THE cycle!" To "itsnevergonnahappensobsobsob." I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

    @AmeliaBedilia: @NorthStar: hi, friends! How's it going?

@doxielove: did you start the P yet? I hope it helps with the spotting!

@LibbyLou: please share when you get more details today. I'm so sorry to hear there is a blocked tube, I really really hope that there is a workable solution. ❤

I finished Clomid on Wednesday night, and am waiting to ovulate. My fertility monitor said high this morning, but I'm only CD 9, so we'll see what happens. Really hoping for a Valentine's Day surprise!

  36. doxielove

    persimmon / 1388 posts

@Crystal: Not yet. I took my last letrozole this morning, so I expect I'd ovulate by late next week? DH's bday is this coming Wednesday. Poor DH, I really hope he doesn't have to end up doing it in a cup on his bday. Ha! Anyways, I'm supposed to start the P 4 days after my LH surge. Oh and I'm definitely hoping for a Valentine's BFP! Even though we normally don't celebrate that day

@AmeliaBedilia: Interesting! I may try it out vaginally, then...

  37. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@Crystal: Hi friend! I am hanging in there. Our first round of IVF in November didn't go as expected and none of our embryos got to blastocyst stage (the optimal stage) and we didn't have any to freeze. We also got a BFN. So, we've been trying naturally for two months while we wait to start BCP in February and do another IVF cycle early March. This wait it killing me. Some clinics get you going right away again for another cycle - not mine - a 3 month wait! ugh. but, we are hoping for the best..

  38. LibbyLou

    kiwi / 739 posts

@Ajsmommy: fingers crossed you will get a blizzard baby! Kinda weird that he said that but maybe he just meant that you'll have 3 eggs most likely and had less last time/that's more than normal?

No word on what can be done to clear tube. I was in surgery all day (for work) so I didn't get to call RE. Hoping I can just get this stubborn other side to O. Like @crystal said it goes from being "this is THE month!" To "nope never going to happen" constantly. Crystal- a valentine day + would be amazing!!!

Hi all!! Just checking in and catching up!!

@AJsmommy: That's so awesome! 3 follicles sounds fab!! FX girl! Your doc definitely sounds like a talker!! Lol! Keep us posted on the trigger!!

@doxielove: That's exciting!! I O usually around day 18/19 on Femara. I normally O late though, so 18 is early for me! When do you normally O!! FX this is your month!!

@libbylou: I'm sorry! That's so frustrating and Devestating. As hard as it Is to hear, you still have so much hope!! I would think you can get a good egg from your other tube! All you need is one good egg!!

@northstar: I'm sorry you're going through all this. Just think, it will be all worth the wait!!

    @ameliabedilia: How are you doing?

@crystal: Check your monitor again tomorrow. Clomid can give false positives within the last 3 days of taking. It may not be giving you a true read. How are you feeling on it?

So, I think I O'd. My temps have been really crazy lately. Normally they drop a bit before O, but instead, they went up right before. My body doesn't feel like it normally does either. Plus, my after O temps aren't as high. I don't think I had a strong O. I'll get my progesterone checked Tuesday and I'll see then. I have a feeling I'll be calling an RE sometime this month. That's the direction I knew we would be going in though. Technically I will POAS next Sat... We will see!!

    Thanks everyone.

They want me to do one more gonal f injection tomorrow.

    Estradiol was 467 today

They want me to monitor again Sunday.... But we may be snowed in. So I may not be able to. Might just have to call in for instructions.
