I just left my infertility workup. She was really impressed with my charts and thAt I had already done my testing earlier this month so she said we can get started. It's bizarre that I have a perfect 28 day cycle and don't ovulate until day 22 and only have a 7 day luetal phase. So, she is thinking of starting progesterone on day 14 and stop at day 28 to lengthen time between periods and clomid next cycle. They will only do two rounds of clomid and I have to agree to do a day 3 ultrasound and a day 12 ultrasound.

@junebugsmama: have a wonderful party, that sounds awesome!

@snarkybiochemist: glad to hear the test didn't find any problems, I hope the recovery is quick.

@jhd: I'm also a planner and it definitely throws loops in my plans! Working on not letting my mind rush straight to planning mode...

@dc yoga bee: good luck with the progesterone and I hope it and the clomid helps
@periwinklebee: Thanks I'm doing ok, taking it easy at work. The cramps have mostly gone away

@dc yoga bee: I'm glad it went well and that you have a plan!

I have an appointment next week. I am sort of annoyed because my gp wouldn't do any testing and said she had to refer me to an obgyn. But the referral she wrote was to a clinic for infertility and reproductive surgery, not a normal obgyn. They wanted testing done before I came but my gp wouldn't do it so I'm just showing up and hoping they'll do it and not be too annoyed. It kind of feels like overkill to start with the specialist...

@periwinklebee: I started with the specialist directly with my first. They did all the testing since my obgyn did not, and it wasn't a big deal. My obgyn did the testing this time only because I had issues the first time.

@periwinklebee: I went straight to a specialist too. I did not wait for any referral, just did the research and found them myself. It was fairly painless except that it cost us about $700 for all the testing once all was said and done. I have a high deductible low premium plan though with an HSA.

@periwinklebee: That's how ours worked too... direct referral to specialist fertility clinic, and they did the testing again even though I had done some in the past.

@dc yoga bee: @bizwitch: @Banana330: Thank you, this makes me feel better. I think I get nervous about medical stuff not so much because I am worried abut tests but because I worry about being taken seriously. It is good to know that it is normal to start with a specialist. Thank you!

I love friends visiting and celebrating the holidays but I'm nervous about finding time for sex since I will likely O just after new years. I see the doctor tomorrow for my first monitoring appt of this cycle, hopefully it will be good news.

I don't feel comfortable taking any meds during the TWW and this cold is kicking my butt. My daughter has it too so we barely slept last night and my body is aching all over on top of feeling like my head is going to explode. Ugh.

@Synchronicity: thanks it will just require more planning and even less spontaneity then usual.
@mrskansas: I understand I get nervous about it too, if you are congested saline nose sprays are safe and natural and taking a hot steamy shower can really help. Tea with honey and lemon is also fairly medicinal. Good luck fighting the cold.

@mrskansas: Sorry to hear you are so sick. I tend not to take any over the counter pharmaceuticals when I'm sick. I do baths with epsom salt and lavender essential oil for body aches. For a general immune boost, make a tea with ginger, cayenne, cinnamon, lemon juice, orange juice and lots and lots of honey. And then of course tons of water and sleep. Good luck!

@periwinklebee: I have my first appointment on the 5th too and a little nervous about making sure things go the way I want. It's nice that you get to see a specialist right away because there won't be any wasted time trying to get the right tests done. I'll be seeing an obgyn... I'm wondering if she will know all the tests that need to be done??

I might be delusional, but I swear these cramps are playing hopscotch all around my pelvis. I can't be imagining this discomfort. There are times I have to stop in my tracks and go "Ok...OW!?!"

No one else in my real life will really understand (and I fear they might get sick of me) so I'm here sharing this biz with you all.

Hope everyone's having a good Friday eve!

I had my annual exam with my obgyn today. I saw her in August when I got my Mirena out. We talked about how TTC is going and she was really encouraging so I'm feeling positive today.

@Mrs. K: Glad the internet was helpful for once.

I'm so glad by REs office does early appts for monitoring so I'm not late to work but man I'm sick of getting up early for them. In good news I have mature follicles I'll likely trigger tonight.

    pear / 1677 posts

@snarkybiochemist: that IS good news! what happens next? Not familiar with what you're going through.

  24. snarkybiochemist

    nectarine / 2180 posts

@madisonbee: My next steps are a trigger shot of HCG tonight, HCG and LH are similar on the molecular level, so all mature follicles will release their eggs, and my husband and I will have sex for the next 2-3 days. Then I have progesterone test in a week to confirm ovulation and a pregnancy test in 2 weeks and hopefully I will be pregnant and won't have to repeat any of this again.

@jhd: That's great! Having a doctor with good bedside manner is really the best...

@madisonbee: Since we started TTC, I swear I've had every PMS symptom under the sun appear around 9dpo and masquerade as a potential pregnancy symptom: cramping, brown spotting, insanely sore nipples, I'm sure when it actually happens it will be the month with no symptoms I hope this is it for you, though! How many dpo?

@periwinklebee: No kidding! I'm currently 7DPO. I just bought some cheapies so I can pee on something once a day, because I just need to pee on something. Strangely enough, the left side cramping was getting more progressive as it got later in the day yesterday. By bedtime I had to try and lay still so I wouldn't aggravate it. It probably means nothing though. Pfft.
