Do you use J&J baby products? I keep hearing how they've removed all of their chemicals from the baby products (but only recently), and I'm just wondering how many of you use them. I grew up using J&J products, and always loved them, but it's hard to ignore all the (much deserved) negative press they've received over the past few years!

Yup, we use the head to toe wash on both babies. I used California Baby wash with LO and I didn't like it.

No we do not. I wanted more natural/organic products for DS an then he ended up having so many allergy issues that we can't use the majority of ingredients in those products anyway.

Yes, the nighttime lavender stuff. We have since birth.

I don't use them, but not for the reasons you listed. I'm allergic to a couple of the ingredients in most J&J (as well as lots of other soaps, shampoos, and detergents) so I use California Baby.

Yes we got so many bottles as gifts. When we run out, we might buy a different brand but its been working fine for the past 9 months.

I used them, but then again, we used the European versions, which had the bad stuff removed a while ago.
Now we use store brand or BabyGanics, my son is currently obsessed with anything that makes a foam.

Because of a particular last name, any time J&J is on someone's baby registry, that's my go-to gift

Nope, don't use J&J. I donated all of the J&J products we were gifted.

no, our pediatrician said to stay far away from j&j. even before that though i couldn't stand the smell of them, way too strong for me.

Yes we use the soap and lotion. We have Burt's Bee's and Baby Ganics too but I love J&J.

We got a few bottles as gifts, but i honestly don't feel comfortable using them considering what i know about J&J's products.

Nope. Along with the chemicals at question we really are trying to live more naturally these days.... We use essential oils like Lavender in P's bath to help relax her & really rarely use soap in general for her (a good scrub is usually sufficient in getting her clean).

LO isn't here yet but I plan on using Dr. Bronner's baby soap. I'm very conscious of chemicals and parabens in my products and don't trust J&J.

@Freckles: I know it makes me wonder!! It makes me wonder about alot of things that aren't allowed in European countries (certain pesticides, GMOs, etc) that are not only allowed but not even listed for us to know about here.

I don't use them, but it's just because I prefer Aveeno (for myself) and now for LO by default.

@zippylef: I purposefully registered for an Aveeno gift basket because it wasn't J&J then realized it actually was after it was gifted to me...fail!

@Freckles: I will be honest, I never really wondered about it much, I was more thankful, if that makes sense. There are a lot less processed foods available and by default, people are less likely to buy foods where there are adverse side effects. Oh and I also wanted to mention that I feel very guilty about potentially harming the water supply using body wash that has Red 40 in it. So, even though it is not being consumed directly, it could be down the line.
But then again, they also don't allow egg donation in certain countries, so it kind of balances out.

No--it scores too high on the SkinDeep rating for me to use on LO. She has sensitive skin, anyways, so I've been using the BabyGanics Eczema wash on her.

Big no for me. I wouldn't use them on myself or LO. I like to use more natural products.

@LuLu Mom: Just a tad off topic but it reminded me....
When DH was going through chemo his oncologist was VERY specific about the sunscreen he could & needed to use (because of his sensitive skin & overrun system). I recently found out that said sunscreen is rated 7 on the ewg site.... it definitely made me think about what & why certain products are recommended by the medical community.

We don't currently use them but I'm not opposed to them. I registered for and received a bunch of California Baby products and we (at 8 months) are still working through our first bottle of soap, even with nightly baths. I was/am more concerned about the chemicals when she was teeny tiny brand new.
I figure once those products run out I might start buying a more affordable options (like J&J). -
I don't plan on it for a few reasons: 1) I don't trust it after all the negative press, and 2) It makes me itch, so I'm certainly not going to bathe my child in it. I recently feel in love with Indigo Wild's Zum Body line, and it's the only lotion that hasn't caused me to break out. I also plan to use Dr. Bronner's baby mild.

The Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo is a 2 on the Skin Deep site . . . but there are chemicals in that that rate higher. Gah - I didn't know!!!

Does Aveeno count? That's the only J&J product I use.

@jmarionsmith: good call, i should definitely run it by my pediatrician (once we have one!) although i'm actually surprised your ped said to stay away - i kinda figured they'd be so used to recommending it over the years that they'd downplay the risks.

In my recent research, it seem that some CB products now contain sodium benzoate (when they didn't before). What products are safe to use?!
