Just curious! For those who have given birth 2+ times, did your second come earlier, same time, later, or something completely different? My first was born at 39+2 and I want to know

My first two were roughly the same - my lmp due dates are never quite accurate so by that measure maybe #2 came a couple days earlier. He was a giant and I think my body wanted him out! Third we induced at 39w and a couple days and I have a feeling she would have been the latest, but who knows. All pretty on time!

First was at 37+5 and second was 38+5. That was the longest week ever

Omg it seems like I can't count on going a bit early just because I happened to the first time

I was induced on my due date with my first. Went into labor/had my second on 39w4d

1st: 39+3
2nd: 40+5 (induction for post-dates)
3rd: 41 (went into labor 12 hrs before the scheduled induction
Insert all the eye rolls here....
I begged for an induction at 39 wks with my 3rd, he felt huge! The hospital wouldn't allow it. And then he was 9.5 lbs and I had a shoulder dystocia. Gah.

@MenagerieMama: I feel your pain! My first was 8 lb 5oz at 39 weeks, so the idea of going to 40 or 41 weeks scares me!

First was born at 37+1 - went into labor on my own. Second was born at 39+1, and I was induced. I was so sure my second would be early like my first, but nope!

First was 40+1, second was 38+3. Iād been having sporadic contractions for weeks at that point, so that was fun... I made an appointment to induce at 39 weeks, but she came on her own first.
ETA: @MoonMoon: I feel you, my son was 8.5 lbs, and then my daughter was just under eight, so I was kind of glad she chose to come a week and a half before her due date lol.

I have three and I went earlier each time, but all were born within a week of their due date.

@MoonMoon: @MenagerieMama: yes! My first was 7 lbs 13oz at 37 weeks, so I was really scared about going later. My second born at 39+1 was 8lb 9oz.

First: Went into labor naturally at 39+1; ended in a c section
Second: Planned C Section @ 39 weeks

I didn't go into labour with either of them - two scheduled C sections for breech babies - but they were both born at 39w3d.

Interestingly, I went into labor at or just after midnight on my due date for both kids. One took so long to arrive she was technically born the next day, but pretty much exactly the same!

39w5d with first
38w1d with second (the power of positive thinking - she was due 12/25 and I wanted her to be home by then!)

41+4 with the first.
Induction on 37+1 for second and third (twins).

39 weeks with first, went into labor on my own
40 weeks with second, induced with Cervidil but went very, very quickly, no pitocin needed!

I actually haven't discussed with my OB yet, if they have a specific cutoff date I can't go past. Especially with my age, I guess I should bring up the question at the next appt

Induced at 41 weeks for first, scheduled c-section at 37 weeks for second

Spontaneous labor at 40+2 for DS1.
I was (mostly electively) induced for the next three, but weirdly was having consistent contractions when I came in for my induction all three times. (40+3, 39+1, 39+4)

Ugh both DDs were LATE (went into labor naturally both times): DD1 was born at 40+6, DD2 was 41+2

mine were both induced, for different reasons, but 2nd was WAY later-- first was induced at 37 weeks bc of low fluid, 2nd at 41 weeks bc she wasn't coming on her own. i was pregnant an entire month longer, and never went into labor on my own for either kid!

@nana87: nightmare scenario right there! You are a hero
So my Dr today confirmed everything in this thread, that 2nd babies can and do often go later than the first... They offer induction starting at 39 weeks and don't let you go later than 41 weeks so I have my window right there I guess!

Mine kept coming earlier and earlier
1st = Induced at 39 weeks
2nd = 37 weeks
3rd = 36 weeks

I didn't go into labor with either pregnancy. My first was an emergency c-section due to pre-eclampsia at 34 weeks and a day and my second was a c-section (not emergency) due to a failed BPP (gestational diabetes) at 37 weeks and six days.

@MoonMoon: The progression was good! But my 3rd birth just took a turn for wild/crazy. Basically all of my kids gave me a very unique birth experience each time!
