We have been using just a basic sound only monitor, but DH said we could go ahead and get a video monitor. We got the newest Motorola one, with the smaller screen though. I'm excited to be a part of the video monitor club, I was always so jealous

Yay! I am addicted to it when I'm awake. Even at night I constantly turn over to look at it!

I love it. We were just admiring LO's hair while he sleeps. It's a lot longer and sticking up funny at the moment.

I need one of these, but I can't bite the bullet price-wise! We're going to start sleep training/move him to his crib tonight though, and I don't want to stress about every little noise.

@ladyfingers: the price actually wasn't bad!
@shopaholic: I got it off eBay (new) so it still has to get here I am soooo excited for it though! Which one do you have?

I still have to get one but I'm in need of one with multiple cameras. I need one for the nursery (upstairs), one for the playroom (downstairs), and possibly a third one for our room (also upstairs) sice little miss doesn't have a crib yet and she's sleeping in our room for at least another month or two. Besides, if we get a third one we can have one watching each crib.

@Bao: Oh! I see! We got the bigger monitor and 2 cameras (for future #2, in case).

@ladyfingers: I think it's been well worth the expense. No more sneaking in on him seeing if he's asleep. It also helps to see his sleep patterns in action. We can tell if he's going to go to sleep quickly or not. I can't believe we waited so long for one.

@cascademom: That's how I feel, too -- moving him to his crib, it would be useful to see how much time he's spending falling asleep and what he's doing to get there, etc.

@ladyfingers: seriously so worth it. It helped me figure out the right timing for stuff! The foscam are not pricey at all.

@shopaholic: I hope to get an additional camera too. I didn't buy it just yet but hopefully I can find one for it in the future!

@cascademom: I still sneak in to see LO when she's sleeping even with a video monitor. Usually when we are still up after she goes to bed, I'll go in just to touch her cheek and her her rhythmic breathing But it's great for when we are in bed and I wake up and want to check on her.

@LuLu Mom: I check on my guy occasionally in the room before bed, just to see him sleep.
@ladyfingers: This morning is a great example of why video monitors are awesome. He got up around 6am. I finished getting ready, got the bottle ready to go, and watched him. He wasn't fussing or screaming. He was just talking to his mobile or playing with his pacifier. I waited until 6:30 or so to go in, feed him, and dress him for the day. Before the video monitor, I would go in at the first sound. Now, we have a better idea of what he's doing in the morning.

Yay! I was late to the video monitor club too. We didn't get one until LO's limbs kept getting caught in the crib.

I don't know how we ever lived without one! We got our video monitor when LO was 5 months and I'm addicted to baby TV. It's been super helpful too because some mornings he makes tons of noise but is still sleeping or he wakes up in the middle of the nap and yelps but falls back asleep. By watching him, I can always tell if he needs more sleep and when to let him be.
