I'm still not sure what we'll do -- have LO sleep in his crib right away, or in our room in a Rock or Pack n Play. The nursery is right across from our bedroom and we have a monitor but I don't know how I'll feel most comfortable so I'm planning to wing it.
BUT.
I just realized last night that there is a a potentially huge barrier to sound LO sleep in our bedroom -- our house alarm! DH had them install it in our bedroom because he felt safer that way so that if somebody breaks in we can hear it, etc. (which totally makes sense but grr, because she can be really loud). Every time you open the back door to let the dog out, the front door to come home, etc. she goes, "[xx] door, open" and if the alarm is set, beeps until you turn it off (or until it accidentally goes off). She talks even if the alarm ISN'T set, as a precaution so that even if we haven't set the alarm, we'll know if somebody comes in.
So if we let the dog out, or if DH is working a late night and I have to set the alarm and he comes home, there's a potential that alarm lady and beeping will wake the baby.
I know this is a specific issue, but has anybody else experienced this? Is it no big deal? Any ideas, even if you haven't experienced this? As a safety measure, you can't lower the volume, so that's out.
The only other thing I could thing of is a white noise machine next to LO to maybe drown things out?
