I'm just day dreaming today...DH and I are saving now to buy a lot and build our dream home. I think I'd want somewhere between 2600-3000 sq ft with tall basement cielings to expand the living space at some point! Here is what I envision...only fieldstone in place of the brick fire place!

To sum it up though, rustic, stone & wood 4 bedroom home on a lake.

@IRunForFun: I think log cabins are so phenomenal - not sure I'd want one for my primary home but definitely for a cottage!!!

The nearest I could find over here (scouring the internet for houses for sale!) is this one - but it's almost £1m worth of house, I won't ever be able to afford that!!!

I'm a rustic, exposed wood beams, stone, and log kind of girl. Love both of these homes, put them on acreage, add a barn, arena, and shop for my hubby and we're golden!

My ultimate dream is to find an old estancia/hacienda in the Andean highlands and fix it up to have as a country retreat! We would have llamas and alpacas and horses of course. Lucky for DH and I, it is a realistic dream! I mean, who wouldn't want to wake up to these views in the morning??

My dream home is a farmhouse with a wraparound porch, tons of windows, and on about 10 acres, which I think would be big enough for a decent garden, a yard, and lots of trees for privacy.

I don't have any good pictures, but basically a modern house with lots of windows and glass walls, and a looong driveway so you have privacy (what with all the glass!)
