Woo hoo! I'm so excited. (Wow, this is what my life has become, excited about breast pumps).
My insurance covered 100% of my breast pump and I received the Medela Freestyle. I've been going through all the pieces and the tote bag is not as ugly as I thought it would be.
Did anyone else have their breast pump covered partially or fully by health insurance?

wow!! what insurance do you have?? I SO want the freestyle!!! My office doesn't have a room where I can pump so I will probably be pumping in my car....

I didn't even think to check w/ my insurance to see if any of the cost is covered! I don't ever want to know, since it was purchased 10 months ago. Ugh. But good for you! That is exciting, they're so expensive!

When I asked my insurance about ours, they were all, "Oh, you get a great discount!" Then I checked that discount against what Amazon has and it's still cheaper on Amazon. 
My insurance sucks.

@mrs. wagon: I have Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield. I would have never thought to check but I read about the possibility of insurance coverage on Baby Center or some similar website while I was pregnant. I called and they said I just needed my Dr. (midwife) to write a prescription for the type of pump I would need and that I'd have to use their vendor.
My job created a lactation room last year so I'll be using that when I go back.

According to my insurance the new healthcare bill has a provision that would require insurance companies to cover breastfeeding support which could include the cost of pump rental or a breast pump starting in August of this year; however there is some leeway for how exactly this goes into affect (such as it may not start until your policy renewal date, etc.). My insurance doesn't currently cover breast pumps but the nurse I spoke with when I signed up for their prenatal program said she would make a note in my chart about this because I am due to deliver in September and could potentially qualify for this new benefit. That is assuming the Supreme Court doesn't deem the healthcare bill unconstitutional.

WOW! I have no idea if my insurance covered my pump! I got the freestyle, but had to pay for it! Well, my parents paid for it!

Oh, forgot to mention that my insurance also covered free child birth and breastfeeding classes. You should call your insurance about free classes if you're interested!

@banana: I've heard about pumps being covered, but that's a great idea to call ask about classes as well! I'm going to give them a call.

Not insurance, but I got my Freestyle by paying for it with FSA funds. I also used FSA to rent a Medela Symphony for the first month and to pay for the delivery fees, the breast pump parts/kit (tubing, horns, valves, etc), nursing pads, lanolin, soothies, shells, etc!!

I loved my Medela pump and it was worth every penny! I am so excited to know that this is a possibility for some women. I will make a note to tell all of my preggo friends! Thank you so much for sharing.

@Boogs: there is a nursing room in the museum for visitors, which I guess could be the place, but I just visited it and it has a see-through door! and it's a tiny room with a few chairs and a changing table, and that's it. It's right next to one of the entrances so there are kids and visitors walking by and looking in all the time. The door isn't even solid (it's like a wrought iron gate door) so people would hear the pump going!

My husband and I are in the process of enrolling for insurance for next year, and one of the coverage changes is that "breastfeeding supplies" are 100% covered, as well as visits to lactation consultants, etc. So cool!

My DH is starting a new job in a few weeks and after reviewing his benefits, I'm getting really excited! It looks like a pump would be covered at 80% and maternity costs are covered at 100%! I'm thrilled!

I got a Medela PISA free my OB wrote my a script, because LO had/had trouble latching on the left!
