I think many companies will cover it with a prescription from your care provider

The free breastpump was something passed under ObamaCare. It's still a relatively new act that was passed so call your insurance to double check the procedures!
I have Aetna HMO in California and I called them last week to confirm. They said I have 60 days after delivery to purchase the pump from an authorized medical supplies store and I can either get a commercial electric pump or a hospital-grade manual pump - all for free!
YAY!

Yes! My daughter's nicu stay hit my out of pocket max, so everything else was just covered. I got the fancy kind with the backpack, it's so awesome.

My insurance only covers a manual breast pump, boo:(
I did get the Freestyle though and am really excited to use it!

Lucky! My insurance plan doesn't cover that until we renew, next June I need one before then since I'm going back to work in April/May.

That's awesome! Our insurance starts covering "breastfeeding supplies" the first of next year, so I'm looking into it and hoping they'll cover a pump for me.
