@regberadaisy: we're not planning to have a vet out unless there's a problem. That said, one of my best friends is a vet and she's been talking me through the whole thing. She'll probably stop by with her family tomorrow to see them, but more as a friend than a vet!

@rosegold: apparently the size difference is not uncommon for multiples. Everyone says as long as they're all eating they should be fine.

Yay! Lots of my 4-H kids have goats. They are so sweet when they are teeny tiny. Good job Mama Basil.

@junebugsmama: yes we were going for color. This is our buck.

@junebugsmama: We haven't decided yet. They will need registered names. Our farm name is Lupine Hill Farm so Lupine Hill will be the prefix. I.e. Lupine Hill Basil (although that's not her registered name). Otherwise I think it has to be under about 15-18 characters including spaces. I'd love some input if anyone has naming suggestions. One we thought of for the little red boy that we will probably keep is Cayenne Pepper.

Cute!! They look big already but I'm sure that's just the pics. Do you know about how much they weigh?

So stinkin' cute!! I love baby goats. A few name ideas: Clover, Juniper, Marigold.

@birdofafeather: I'm not sure, I was thinking of taking the bathroom scale out there to check but I can't imagine the little guys are more than 2 lbs. The bigger one is probably closer to 4lbs. The little ones really fit into one hand curled up.

@ms.line: I love juniper. It is actually Basil's registered name. I love flower names too. So many choices.

well if you have basil and cayenne then you need spice names for the other two as well! Paprika, oregano, saffron...

Here are some pics from yesterday. They're just getting cuter and cuter, and more active. This morning we let them outside for the first time. The big one was galloping around, really having a great time. They all are doing great, nursing well (though mostly from one side so we had to milk out the other side as it was REALLY engorged this morning). Mama Basil seems happy and like she's going to be a great mother.
ETA: This one we're calling Lupine Hill Mango Chutney (Mango)

@MamaG: She gets that from her Daddy. He has a great cowlick with long fuzzy hair on top, all white.

@2farmmoms: Your pictures make me want to adopt some baby goats, haha. They are soooooo adorable!!! And it's amazing how some animals can walk right from birth. Incredible!

@mrbee: He was talking to them through the fence this morning. That's about as close as we're letting him get for now. He likes to harass Basil and try to breed her, so we're keeping him out for her sanity!

@Adira: You should! (if you don't live in a city, that is, they're not terribly quiet) We love our goats. They're really much more like dogs than livestock. They are completely people oriented and love to be handled. It makes them really fun to have around.
