@magnolia: how old is she? My daughter had very floppy, loud breathing when she was newborn to about 3 months. I didn’t know there was a name for it. She outgrew it

@magnolia: DS had this as a newborn and it was scary but he also outgrew it. He was a 36 weeker and Dr said it was cuz his resp system was I guess not fully mature. Try to keep upright and let her eat slowly. Hopefully she'll outgrow it with time.

@magnolia: My second baby had this. It has turned out to be a mild case, but had to be watched for a little while. If her breathing got bad, I would turn her onto her stomach so that gravity could help get the flappy piece back where it should go. I was so scared, but realized that a lot of kids have much more severe cases. I was able to lay her flat to change her diaper without much of an issue. She is 13 months now and still has the breathing issues. I hear it multiple times a day, but it doesn't seem to bother her. It makes me pause and wait and watch, though. @magnolia: hey there! My youngest boy has both TM and LM. He was also found to a cleft in his larynx. He is having his cleft repaired next week. My little guy is 2 years 8 months. As an infant he had several scary episodes but he has mostly been healthy. Please message me if you have any questions I am happy to answer them.

@agold: Pulmonary decided it best to do a scope when he was around 7-8 months. We found out about the LM/TM/cleft and enlarged adenoids all at the same time. In March we had the adenoids removed and hoped we wouldn’t have to move forward with the cleft repair. Unfortunately he needs the cleft repair to stop aspiration of fluid.

My friend's baby had this a grew out of it by 4 months. Scary-sounding but benign in her case.

@magnolia: sorry didn’t get to reply earlier. Interesting, DS did have reflux too. This is terrible but I don’t exactly remember when it presented...I want to say maybe around 3 months? Between being a preemie, tongue tie, laryngomalacia, and reflux he was a terrible eater and it’s all a blur! He did get better later on but the first few months were tough.

@magnolia: Both my girls have had some kind of lip tie and tongue tie. I took my big girl to the ENT when she was still tiny and they told me not to do anything about it since she was gaining weight. I didn't even both doing anything about my second's girl's ties for this reason. Also, both of their teeth seem to be coming in normally despite the crazy upper lip time. No speech impediments so far with the first girl, either. ETA: when we saw the ENT, the first thing he asked me is if my girl could open her mouth. that made me realize that what I thought was a horrible tounge/lip tie really might just be mild, and so far it has been.

@magnolia: hi! We did end up clipping his tongue tie but not because of the laryngomalacia. I was having a horrible time breastfeeding due to his latch. That improved after getting it clipped but the laryngomalacia remained until it kind of just resolved on its own.
