Anyone here had it done? If so, how much did you pay? It's hard to get much info online since the cost varies so much, but I just want to get an idea. I have started thinking about it more recently since my eyes get SO dry with contacts and I hate wearing glasses. I'm scared of the procedure, but honestly at this point I would just like to be done with contacts.

Here in Nashville it's about $7K for both eyes. I'm waiting until I'm done having kids though because your eyes can change in pregnancy.

That's a fair point re: the pregnancy thing. And man, why does it have to be so expensive?

I think mine was about $4500, in the Boston area, 4 years ago. My eyes did not change while pregnant a few years after the procedure but they did say to wait at least a certain about of time in between (I forget how long, six months maybe). I am so glad I had it done, life changing.

The cost depends on your vision correction needs.
My eyes were -4.00 and I was quoted a little over 4k for both eyes. They were running an anniversary promotion + I got a couple hundred $ off through my insurance.
Total cost was $3,462.10 and we paid cash! -
My husband had it done for about $2k/eye. I'm thinking about it but not sure when I would do it yet.

Best money I have EVER spent. Got it done in 2007, paid $3500ish but did it all through flex at work, so it was tax free!

Mine was $4k for custom laser through TLC. Best decision ever. My eyes were so dry with contacts too. I still have dry eyes but I put one drop in each eye in the morning and it lasts me all day. Fwiw I got pregnant 5 months later and had no issues. I do have lifetime touch up guarantees so I wasn't too worried,
I was petrified for the procedure too but it took literally seconds and was totally painless. The worst part was going screen free during the recovery!!

My husband got lasik earlier this year. He spent $1500 for bladeless and both eyes, and paid through his flex account at work i believe. A few of our friends found a reputable place (located in queens, ny) that had a living social deal (buy 3 get 1 free). He let those friends do it first (haha), they were all successful, and he bought the same deal the next time it was offered with three other friends. Best decision ever!

Mine was $4k and it was one of the best decisions ever. I'm totally squeamish about my eyes and I'm a baby when it comes to medical stuff. If I can do it, anyone can! Definitely wasn't bad at all.

I think it was $4-$5. Best decision I ever made. I used drops every morning right when I woke up for a while. I don't need the drops anymore. My eyes used to get so dry with contacts.

I had mine done in 2009 (had LO in 2011) and my eyes are still 20/20. My eyes were -8!!! I was dealing with dry eyes from wearing contacts for over 18 years. We used my husbands FSA account so it was tax free and it cost just over $5k

@Mamasig: I actually tried going to 3 different doctors and was rejected every time. The last doctor informed me the only way I'm getting my eyes fixed is to go to Europe where they do some procedure that hasn't been approved here yet. Uhmm sure, I'll just go do that.

@sandy: That's my problem too, MAJORLY dry eyes from wearing contacts 20 years now. My eyes are -11 and -12 and I'm super sad they can't fix them.

Best money I've ever spent on myself. $3800 about 9 years ago. I had worn glasses and contacts for 19 years before then. Still is working well for me.

I just got introduced to the Intra Ocular Lens or Implantable Contact Lens. A much safer, but newer procedure than LASIK and better for high prescriptions (I'm -8 and -9). I'm still gonna go with LASIK because I have unusually thick corneas, but the IOL / ICL sounded REALLY interesting. Basically it's a cataract surgery without having cataracts... they implant a contact lens behind your iris, above your natural lens. Pricier though... about twice what LASIK costs. I'm getting LASIK at the end of January!!! So excited!! I have been quoted a little under $5000 at two places. I'm going with TLC.

@mrs. wagon: Excited for you (and jealous!). My corneas are okay as far as the IOL surgery (I did ask them about that!), but they are concerned about my retinas and the pressure these surgeries put on them (both my retinas have detached previously). I'm sure it will be amaze-balls to wake up able to SEE!!!!
