My 4yo daughter was trying to explain something to me and she used the word "maximum." I was so shocked and so proud!! I started thinking that maybe all of our educational efforts were paying off, so I asked her where she learned that word. Turns out it was from Minecraft haha!

DS started clicking last week.
I showed him clicking about a few weeks ago but I haven't done it since. It's weird that he just started doing it on their own.
Both of them will 'communicate' by doing raspberries. It's cute. They also communicate by babbling but we really distinguish if they are doing it randomly or on purpose. At least with raspberries, if one does it, the other will do a raspberry back.

I told my daughter I loved her to Pluto and back. She said, "I love you more. I love you to Makemake and back."
I actually had to Google to see that she was correct, Makemake is further than Pluto. My little astronomer.

Out of nowhere, my newly four year old DD started demonstrating that she knew how to write pretty much all the letters (as in, you say "H", she prints it). I was in shock, since she had always shut down when you asked her about letters/spelling, even her own name.
My two year old recently grabbed My coysin's hands, hung from them, and flipped over backwards (repeatedly, on purpose). I'm not even sure where she saw this!!

Apparently the kids are learning about weather and my 3.5 year old came home explaining to me that we have to agree on a hiding place with no windows where we will go if there's a tornado.

@mrbee: hahaha! I hadn't heard of the other dwarf planets before she became interested in astronomy. There's also Haumea, Ceres, and Eris. But I don't remember the order!

LO is two and has been alphabet obsessed since last fall. Lately he has been bringing me toys and telling me what letter they start with. G for goat, p for pig, etc from his little people farm!

I was describing yogurt (she's allergic) and I said it was kind of sweet and kind of sour and she said, Oh you mean tart?
She also read the word "independently" off of a leveled book and wanted to know what it meant. I guess she's reading independently.

Last week at the beach she saw a map of where we were staying, and she said, "Mom, are we on a peninsula because we're surrounded by water on three sides?" Apparently she was reading about peninsulas in one of her books!

Haha! That reminds me that I've been impressed a few times recently only to find that she learned it from watching Peppa Pig.

My 4yo walked up to me and said "mommy a thing that's in your way is an obstacle". I was like what?!?! Amazing!

Every time I am impressed by a new word DS says it ends up being something he learned on tv!

Three days ago I was slightly panicked because my nearly one year old wasn't using gestures yet. Then the next day OH gave her a tiny piece of liverwurst. She ate it then a minute later had her hand open and outstretched asking for more. I guess she hadn't found anything as delicious before that was worth asking for!

I do a stroller fitness class. Last night after class, DD (22 months) walked up to the instructor, said "swat" and started doing little toddler squats!

My son knows a lot of random facts about animals. The other day he told me that elephants put mud on themselves to act as sunscreen.

LO 1 is 3. She and I were talking one day and she used the word catastrophe correctly and it blew my mind.

My DD knows where her hair, tongue, ears, feet, and belly button are and will point them out gladly! Though, I don't think she wants to acknowledge her nose, seriously I'm trying to teach her that one, and it's just not working!

When DS knew every single letter of the alphabet. For a toddler who just turned 2, I'd say that was pretty awesome.

@Truth Bombs: LOL. My kids also go to an international school so they are picking up some interesting things there as well. Band-aids are plasters!

@Truth Bombs: hahaha when we lived overseas I felt like I had to translate for DH - my kids were running around babbling about prams and lifts and nappies; our housekeeper wanted to know how I wanted my courgettes chopped....I'm adaptable about language but DH was just like "huh?!!"

We recently discovered that my 10 month old can climb a whole flight of stairs, but he hasn't tried going down (and we haven't given much opportunity). But last week we were at a friend's house that has a sunken living room and when he crawled up to the step down, he promptly turned around and backed down the step perfectly! I don't know if he learned that somewhere or just figured it out, but I was impressed!

The other day my 4 yo realized that we were on a bridge. He then told us about the Golden Gate Bridge. lol I have no idea where he learned about that.

My 2.5 year old can correctly identify at least 15 dinosaur species (and pronounces most of them better than I can!). A few days ago, he told DH "My t-rex walks on two legs like a stygimoloch."

@Andrea: gah, there have been a couple times R has used bigger words in context and i'm like, wow! and then i hear the daniel tiger episode she got it from.
