LO is just over a month old now and the past few days he's been having trouble with my left breast. He does just fine on my right one, but on the left he pops on and off and the latch doesn't feel quite right. I keep trying and I can tell there's plenty of milk because when I squeeze it comes shooting out, but does anyone have any advice?

Consider altering the hold you use for that side. For example, if you usually use a cross cradle, try switching to football.

Also try side lying if you haven't already. I had the same problem (same side, too) for a little while. It ended up being that my letdown was faster on that side and it was harder for him to deal with (if that's the case with you, let down into a cloth first, and then try latching).

@MegWag: I concur on switching up positions too. I prefer football hold on both sides as well. But there were a few times he'd only eat on one side if he was across me.
We just mastered side lying in bed and I don't find it terribly comfortable but it's a lifesaver for night time feedings. -
I had the same issue - my baby had so much trouble latching on the right side - I called it her enemy boob. It turned out the let down was so fast (like ms. Yoyo)...and it also helped when I would hand express into a cloth (until it stopped shooting)...I would get her to latch and she would pop off after a short while and I would express then and then she was able to go back on that side and feed for a long time.

I had a problem with the same side! She likes it when I lay back slightly when she goes to that side.

We had the same issue and I second changing your hold til you find one LO likes. When your LO is a bit older, he'll be such a pro, he'll be able to latch on from any position.

Thanks ladies! Last night I tried changing positions to crossbody (Man, is that awkward for us!) which worked great. I was then able to switch back to our beloved rugby/football hold later on. I thought that meant problem solved... sadly, this morning we had the problem again, so I'll keep trying different things.

If you are really full on that side you may need to pump/express some before nursing. It may actually be coming out too fast. You can also nurse the baby on somewhat of an incline so he's looking "down" on to you so he really has to suck the milk up.
