We saw the LC in hospital, had another LC come over on day five (the day my milk came in) and finally had my fairy godmother LC come over on day 13. I continued to go to her weekly drop-in BFing clinics until week nine.

I honestly think everyone who BFs can benefit from meeting with an LC very early on. It is what saved my nursing relationship with dd. I seriously can't say enough good things about it. I would strongly encourage anyone to seek one out, particularly if it would help prevent the extreme pain and nipple trauma that I endured.

I saw one in home when DD was five days old. It did wonders, so I recommend seeing one sooner rather than later. I also started attending my local LLL meetings when she was 2 weeks. Hang in there and take it one session at a time! Good luck!

i watched movies online, talked to 2 LCs in the hospital and went to BFing support groups that my hospital put on. reach out ASAP! the more help, the better and the sooner, the better!

I had a hard time in the beginning and really benefited from having an LC work with us. The biggest tip for us was making sure the baby got enough breast tissue in her mouth. We helped her do this by doing the C-hold on the boob and shoving it in a wide open mouth.

Go see an IBCLC. We struggled at the hospital despite getting a ton of input from the nurses, on call LC, and the breastfeeding class. Turns out DD had a lazy latch... It looked great for the first few minutes but she would roll back a bit and cause damage. Until I had my LC watch the entire nursing session we thought she had a great latch. My LC waved her magic hands around and totally fixed our problems in one session. It took maybe 4-5 days for the damaged caused in the beginning to heal, but we've been going strong ever since (almost 13 months.)
