How do you handle your lawn care?
We've been having Scotts come and treat our lawn since last year, and while things look green I'm increasingly uncomfortable with what they're using to treat the lawn. I don't allow our dog to walk on the grass in our front or backyard anymore, and when I looked at stuff they left on our door and saw promotional materials for Roundup and Miracle-Gro, that was just it for me.
Does anyone use an organic lawn care service or methods and get good results?

We only use organic and have a great lawn... safe for babies. Needs mowing right now, though!

Other than that, we don't really do much. We have a lot of wildlife that come and visit, so we dont use anything that can hurt them.

@Crumbs: I'm going to have to get that for DH! We have a huge grove of trees and he weeds the whole thing by hand. He'd love this!

We just DIY our lawn care. It looked horrible when we moved in 18 months ago, all patchy and full of weeds. We put down grass seeds, watered them in, and although I'm sure it took longer than a company take care of it, it looks really great now.

I really didn't used to care one way or another about organic lawn care but after feeding the lawn this spring, our dog had terribley itchy rashy skin and even though it says it's safe- I'm sure it was that!

our lawn care company comes by and treats our weeds with organic stuff. it's "alright" - i don't know much about lawn maintenance, and cant really say that it's really effective. my husbands seems to be pleased with them though.
we use organic because of our dogs. so far so good - they havent gotten sick or had adverse side effects from any of the treatments.

@wahine08: @yourekindapretty: It worries me that when I come in from walking on the grass right after a treatment, my dog tries to lick my shoes. And I know that if she were to walk on the grass she'd be eating her feet that night!

@spaniellove: it's surprisingly fun and addicting! It feels like a shot gun (I've never fired a gun) but if you pull on the lever, the weed flies out, so it's kind of the same motion, if that makes any sense.
Oooh and the whole root comes out! No bending over! It's great! The only downside is it leaves big holes. DH calls it my hole maker. Hehe.
