Does anyone have one of the leapfrog reader systems that's for 3+? We have one of the baby/toddler ones but LO is outgrowing it, so we are going to pass it on to little sister. I thought of getting the next step up for Christmas if I could get a few opinions on it first!

We got one of the leapfrog juniors and I got frustrated with having to download the books from the computer into the reader so we returned it.

We have one - I'll have to check the model. Honestly, it never gets used. You have to buy apps and they're pretty expensive. I think it came with 2 free downloads? BIL got it for her like 2 Christmases ago.

@regberadaisy: oh really, I thought they came with books and you just use the pen to read? I guess I have to research more

@Bao: I have bought a few different ones in the past for my niece and nephews. There are one you buy books for (tag reader?) and ones you buy cartridge and you can also buy apps. In my experience the new cartridges and books are al pretty pricey and they only work with the leap frog. They do run sales though!

We have it, got it as a gift and pick up occasional books and games as they go on sale. I've got to try him again with the books now that he's starting reading. He's good at using it for the puzzles/maps, but lost interest in the books at 3, I think he may be into it more soon.

@Bao: MY DD got one of these as a gift for her birthday...and it was defective! So then they sent us another one...also defective! The reviews I've read online make it seems like other people have had these issues too. It's too bad because it would be a fun thing for her on car trips.

We have the tag reader and my son loves it. I want to get him more books for if. It's really nice to use instead of screen time when I am busy
