Not that we really need more screen time, but my 5.5 year old still watches Paw Patrol as his primary show (he also has two younger brothers who also love it). I feel like he should be moving on to something else, plus I have had it up to my eyeballs with Adventure Bay. Anyone have any recommendations for good shows for an almost 6 year old boy? We have pretty much every streaming service at our disposal.

My almost 7 and 4.5 year old are both currently obsessed with Miles from Tomorrowland on Disney Plus - it’s pretty good. They also really really loved Bluey for a while (also Disney Plus) which was a great phase because it’s hilarious and I loved it too. The Lion Guard is cute.
On Netflix my kids watch a weird mix of stuff that’s probably too old for them (Trollhunters, Dragon Prince, Kipo and the Wonderpets) and stuff that’s too young for them (Trash Truck, Cocomelon). Oh, what about Wild Kratts? That was hugely popular with my kids. Also Rescue Bots.

The magic school bus - original and new version! They are both on Netflix. And Wild Kratts, it’s a pbs show but we watch on amazon prime. DD is six and loves both.

My just turned 6 year old totally still watches with his 3 year old brother a lot of times! His current own favorites are Rescuebots (there’s one where they are younger I think it’s called Academy?), Lego City (which is now on Netflix), Odd Squad (which is my absolute favorite kids show, it’s funny and teaches math concepts!), and he also LOVES this super old 90s show on Amazon Prime called Hard Hat Harry, which is live action and this genie takes two kids to learn about different rescue vehicles or construction vehicles, etc.

Definitely echo Wild Kratts, also my almost-5 DS LOVES Octonauts. Super Why was also popular for a while, which made me happy because it really seems to help with letters and does a lot of classic stories.

@LadyDi: To me, Umizoomie is the best of the Paw Patrol - esque shows. There are loooots better but if I stray too far into “educational” tv (story bots), it gets rejected by my 5 year old

My 5.5yo is obsessed with Pokemon. In normal world I would have looked into how appropriate it is. I honestly have no idea other than I think they say stupid pretty frequently. I didn't discover that until we were in too deep.

My 5 year old is still very much into Paw Patrol and my 2.5 year old is following in his footsteps. I actually feel like my younger DS has missed out on Thomas and Sesame Street having an older brother.
Rescue Bots and the Academy version are other favorites. I forgot about Wild Kratts so I will try to introduce that and Dinotrux looks like something my boys would enjoy.

My 5 yo is obsesssed with dinosaur train and the cat in the hat knows a lot about that. Bluey too!

We love the Cat in the Hat Knows a lot about That, Team Umizoomi, and old versions of Storybots on Netflix. I honestly think DS has learned a lot from Storybots. I was able to get him into Peg + Cat for a little bit (it's silly and a cartoon, but teaches math), but he never really liked it as much as I hoped.

My son loved little Einsteins, team umizoomie, octonauts, and Wild krafts around that age. All shows that I actually enjoyed with him too so that’s a plus

@Bluemasonjar: my younger two aren’t into Sesame Street at all because of my older one and it makes me really sad. Sometimes i put an episode on and I end up being the only one who watches it.

@LadyDi: Never day never - I thought my younger son would skip Paw Patrol because my older son had moved past it by the time younger aged in, so we got rid of all the Paw Patrol stuff. Then younger son discovered it on his own and now we’re re-buying all the stuff.

@LadyDi: there’s a show on Netflix called Pup Academy that my kids are suddenly obsessed with (5 and 7). It’s live action dogs that go to a secret, Harry Potteresque school—and that sounds horrible and honestly, I can’t watch it. But the kids like it and it’s definitely not objectionable.

My 5 year old loves Ready Jet Go on PBS. It’s all about space stuff. Rusty Rivets, Dinosaur Train, and Blaze are all good options. Entertainment while teaching! Blaze is somewhat participatory as well, asking questions during the show.

My boys like the Lego series - specifically the Star Wars ones, they also like the Jurassic World one. I have a 5 year old and an 8 year old, so the younger is definitely influenced as well by what his older brother watches.
They watch a bunch of random shows on Netflix: Last Kids on Earth, Wizards, Tales of Arcadia, Bear & Lemmings...

@erinbaderin: I mean, it's OK.... my 5 year old is obsessed with Zombies, so that's why we started watching it. It's like an end of world situation but they don't really understand that aspect, they just think it's fun and made up, obviously because of zombies... ha.
