My mom is here for a few days to help out because M is sick. With her here, I have 30 extra minutes in the morning. I don't have to pack a daycare bag or drop M at daycare. This saves me SO MUCH TIME!
Do you have a nanny or care that comes to or lives with you? Do you understand how great you have it?

I won't have a nanny, but my mom and sisters all live within a 5 minute radius. They say they will be over as much as needed to cook, clean, take care of baby, etc.. I'm hoping they come through on their promise

I had a nanny for a bit and I personally preferred daycare when I worked at home. But mommy is different!!

I'm a SAHM so no need for a nanny. My mom nannies for my niece though. There are pros and cons I think. It's hard when it's your family watching your LO all the time.... if you disagree with something they do it can get weird.

The days that my mom watches T are just amazing. So much extra time and no packing bottles and better yet she cleans then.

We had a nanny for a while and I also prefer daycare. But nothing beats grandma!!

Having a live-in nanny was fantastic... I knew we had a good situation when we had it, but it wasn't always easy dealing with some issues. I agree with the others in that I actually preferred it more when we let her go and just sent DD back to daycare again.
DD "outgrew" her at 2.5 yo and needed the socialization and more structure anyway. So even if it was a lot more work for me (she was our housekeeper too!), it was better for DD at that time.
But yeah, grandmas are different... Wish my mom would live with us or we lived super close to her!!

I totally realize how incredibly blessed I am. My mom comes over in the morning and it's a lot less stressful than trying to pack up baby and take her somewhere.
@char54: My mom and sisters live about that close to us and having them over is such a help. I really hope they come through for you! They slept over at my house the 1st month. So helpful!

We have a live in nanny, and yes, I realize how incredibly fortunate we are. It is one factor that makes living overseas away from our families much more bearable. I'm so thankful I can work, go to they gym, have me time, or go out at night with my hubby knowing LO is with someone who loves her and whom I trust.
ETA: the affordability of domestic help and the fact that it is very much the norm in the country I live in is definitely incentive to stay here.
