I wax my own, usually when I remember to. I also have to wax my chin.

@hellobeeboston: Yeah, I use the Sally Hansen kit. I make it last awhile by cutting down the larger strips. I hate my chin hairs. They seem to be getting more numerous now that I'm in my 30s and have had two kids.

@hellobeeboston: not itchy. Maybe I'm not observant, but I don't notice it until it gets to the "OMG WAX YOUR LIP" stage. But my hair is dark. It's not thicker either, except for a few of my chin hairs.

I do my own eyebrow waxing (so much better than plucking IMO) and sometimes add on a quick strip on my upper lip if I feel like it. It's super easy. You don't get stubble, or at least I don't, since the hair is so fine and soft.

I used to get my eyebrows done at salons but it's so much easier to just learn how to do it at home. I looked up a YouTube tutorial the first time I did it, and then bought a few supplies (wax warmer with a tub of wax, little muslin strips, and a few wooden applicators). It's all purchasable on Amazon. That first tub of wax I bought years ago is still more than 3/4 full. I do it every 2-3 weeks.

@hellobeeboston: Might be a good idea to do it at night or on the weekend (I like to do it on a weekend just because I do better in natural light by the window, so dark weeknights won't work). You can cut down the chances of your skin reacting poorly by 1) using oil to remove excess wax 2) immediately washing your face with cleanser to get the oil off 3) oil-free moisturize like you normally would; this helps soothe the skin.

Oh and you might get more skin irritation (and pain) if you wax during your period.

I've been dealing with upper lip hair since I was 9 and I've tried it all - bleach, wax, trimming, threading. I vastly prefer threading to get rid of it, most places are pretty cheap and it only takes a few minutes. I break out and stay read for a week if I wax, trimming doesn't last long enough. I do bleach it and then trim if I don't have time to go get it threaded.

@hellobeeboston: I wax my eyebrows and upper lip area at the same time every 3 weeks or so (I have dark hair.) Nad's is my go to and a box costs about $5. They sell em everywhere like target and Walgreens. Very easy to use, just place the strip in between ur hands and rub a few times to heat. Then peel the strip apart (so you actually get two strips from one). Press on the area to be waxed, wait a few seconds then rip quickly like a bandaid and make sure you peel it as parallel to the skin surface as possible - don't lift up cause that'll cause tugging on the skin and doesn't rip the hairs as well. You'll have redness so I do it after showering in the evenings before bed. Once in a while the waxed skin gets raw and applying a thin layer of neosporin on the area prevents scabbing. The regrow is fairly slow and not stubbly at all like when you shave. My regrowth usu starts out with a couple hairs here and there which I tweeze as part of the upkeep between waxings.
